Future Marine.

Any Marine women/men on here? i need words of wisdom, because i am about to join and finally convinced my husband (an active duty army) and my uncle who's a former marine. i know it's tough, but i'm very much willing to serve. after all, freedom ain't free. happy 4th, everyone!

Good luck! Should be an interesting ride thats for sure.

Id of joined the airforce instead. This way you can be home more often and deployed less.

Experience with this as my husband is AF and deploys MUCH less than my marine friends. Although one marine friend being stationed in japan was a really great experience/adventure for him.

My husbands advice: the movies and the videos showing you them yelling and screaming and all hardcore.. it isn't a joke. He was deployed over 9 months at a time. Iraq more than once, Japan and a few other places. I'm all for serving, but make sure you really understand how often you'll be apart from your family and the effect that will have on you and your children.

thank you very much. i am very much aware of all the hardships. my husband and i don't have any kids yet and not planning on having one soon.

i keep on researching and watching films about it, and my uncle telling me stories about how hard it is to be a marine. i am up for the challenge, i want my family to be proud of me as well.

I'd wish you good luck, Marine, but luck is for rabbits, not Marines! Just remember Noblesse Oblige and all that sort of jazz, on second thought:
