Thanks so much for your help guys!

It might be a really dumb question, but I've been trying to figure out when my American husband actually needs to be physically present if we are to do DCF in Sydney. I've been reading up, but still unclear on this.......If we're able to mail in the I-30 paket, and I'm the only one who needs to be present at the interview, what part does he play? As much as he'd like to come to Aus for a while, we're trying to figure out which part of it all he needs to be there for.

Thank goodness for this website!

He has to be there to file the I-130. It doesn't matter when - what MOST people do is do it all at once BUT you don't have to. He can come, file the paperwork, and then you can go later for your interview. I, personally, wanted to be there with Stewart for the interview so I could have just filed when I was there in December but he wasn't ready with his medical or police stuff or anything else so this just worked out better.

Finally finished with immigration in 2012!

Thanks for the info. I read something about opening the case up early to get fingerprints etc done before the USC comes over. How does that happen if he has to be there for the I-130? Much appreciation for the help.

Read the new guide that meauxna is asking people to look at - it's VERY helpful. You can open your case by merely mailing a few forms in....that's all.

You don't have to mail the I130 to start your case.
