Hello everyone,

I have been looking through past visa journey posts, but have not been able to find the answer to my question. My fiance, who is Irish, and my myself, the USC, have just applied for the fiance visa. I am goin to need a co-sponsor when the time comes to fill out my affadavit of support. Does anyone know if Ireland accepts co-sponsors?

Also, I know that the co-sponsor has to meet 125% above the poverty line for their whole household and also if you inlcude myself and my fiance. As long as the co-sponsor is above the required poverty line are they okay, or do they have to earn a substantial amount more than what 125% of the poverty line for a household with that many members is?

Thank you so much in advance for anyone that can help me out. :-)

Yes, Ireland accepts co-sponsors.

You are not included in your co-sponsor's household count, just your Irish fiancee. So if your co-sponsor has a husband and two kids, the total is 5 for her household. While technically, they only need to make the exact amount, it is better if the co-sponsor is comfortably over.

Thank you so much for your response! My co-sponsor is goin to be my dad. I am a college student and have been back and forth between living at my parent's house and living 3.5 hours away in my apartment when I am at university. For many things I have my parent's address listed as my permanent residence. On my application I also put down their address. In August I will move into my apartment and will not live with my parents again. Should I change my address with USCIS? When I fill out the AOS would I put down that I live in the same household with my co-sponsor and thus have to include myself in the household count? I'm in that transition phase of my life when I am going to be leaving home and changing my permanent address. It is just hard to figure out where the government sees that I am no longer part of their household.

I am sorry if this is confusing. Thank you so much for your time.

It's ok to keep your parents address for now, but once you have something a bit more permanent, you should change your address. Also remember that after marriage comes Adjustment of Status, and there you should preferably fill your address as the same as your then-husbands.

Household count for the affidavit of support doesn't necessarily mean living together, it means being dependent on the sponsor. So if your dad counts you as a dependent in his taxes then yes, you are included. But if you are legally an adult and file your own taxes then no, you are not counted. If your dad is close to the poverty limit, he might consider adding any assets (savings, 401K, second car etc).

Ok, I have another question. :-) When I filed the I-129F I put down my residence as the same as my parents and also put down their address to be where my fiance would live when he came to the US. At the time of filing the application I did not have an apartment yet for this coming fall. I now know where I will be living and this would be where my fiance will live when we get married. Do I still not need to send in any forms to the USCIS? Like I said before my address changes fairly frequently due to school, I will be living at my apartment next summer, but there is a chance I may move yet again to go to graduate school in another state.

In regards to the co-sponsor, I was not claimed as a dependent on my dad's taxes. My parents file jointly so on their taxes is my mom and my sister. When he sponsors my fiance it would then be seen that he would be financially responsible for 4 people( my mom, my sister, himself and my fiance)? If this is the case my dad is $11,000 above the 125% poverty line and $16,000 above 100% poverty line. Do you think I should still include assets with the AOS when I send in his co-sponsorship? I may just do it just to be safe. Or should I also try to have another co-sponsor in addition to my dad?

Thank you so much for being a great help. :-)
