My fiance does not have a PO Box and of course does not get mail at home. How can we make sure the Embassy/Consulate letters get to him? He lives in Jordan.

Not to sound rude, but that might be something he would want to get to ensure message traffic. If it is important to take these steps, then it is worth finding a way to do it. You'll find that the whole "journey" is about "How much is your relationship worth" to you. You may have discovered that the fees and costs are quite steep. I wish you luck!

I agree that I think he will have to get one. I am interested to know if the Embassy will email or call him.

My wife says the embassy never called her, but they did have her number if they needed to. She was always notified by mail, and ocassionally email. Embassy rules and proceedures could be different in each place as far as I know. Never married anyone from Jordan before! :) Best thing I can tell you is have him make sure he is as accessable as possible to them as he can be. If these people don't think you are "deeply concerned" about doing all you can, they will deny you very quickly. Don't give them any reason for that. I work for the US Gov myself, and they gave us a hard time during interviews. The DoD wouldn't let me visit my wife due to travel restrictions to her country, and they tried to say I didn't go see her enough while waiting. Just document everything you do with real letters, photos, and witnesses.

My fiance is from Syria and its the same situation....no real address and no PO box. For his street address, we used the way that everyone uses to find places in Damascus, a description of where the house is located (for example "Second street from Ruqayya Mosque, Bab alFaradis"), which anyone from the area would be able to find. Secondly, his uncle has a PO Box, so we listed that as his mailing address since Syrian post offices allow anyone to receive mail for anyone in their PO box...its not specific to who owns the box.

What address did you list on his i-129? That is the address the embassy will mail packet 3/4 to. I am not aware that embassies call the benefeciary to get their packet 3/4. He really should have a mailing address. I am not sure if he can arrange to pick up packet 3/4 at the embassy.

Best wishes.

Can you be more specific...because there is a set way the embassy does things. Does he have email? They will send it there. My husband gets packages at his restaurant...or you could use a friend or family member that you can trust with their address. But usually they work with emails... (F)good luck you will do fine.

He does have email. He could also have it delivered to his work but I was weary of putting his work address on the 1-129F and the other forms because I was worried about misrepresentation. You asked me to be specific...what would you like to know?

Ben and I posted a question reguarding packets being mailed to PO Boxes. We were told... where it asks for an address, put their address... but where it asks for mailing put the PO Box. We're also including a letter with the petition stating that we'd prefer things be mailed to our PO Boxes (I have one in the US - and he has one in NZ). So maybe if he has things delivered to a family member's PO Box, you could do like we're going to... and include a letter requesting that things be mailed there & that the residence is elsewhere. Good luck. :)
