Using AP and different passport

My husband travels internationally semi-regularly and use the AP to enter while AOS is pending. Our question is that he now has 2 passports. The Egyptian passport is the one he entered using the K1, so he has been using that with the AP. He now is a Canadian citizen and we were wondering if he can use the Canadian passport with the AP.

I couldn't find any reason why he needs to continue to use the Egyptian passport since AP isn't directly tied to the K1. When he is questioned though, he does explain he initially entered on K1 and now awaiting AOS. I am sure they look at the K1 to verify his statement.

Can we use the Canadian passport with AP and just carry the Egyptian one in case?

Actually, the Canadian passport alone (unless you're actually going to Egypt) would suffice.

carry both, cos the Egyptian shows his K-1 visa in it, and Canadian well, to demonstrate that he's usuing a more "safer" passport, cos of course a Canadian passport is much better to have than an Egyptian passport.
