I bet applications would get done faster if there was a policy of 'if we don't get to see our families over the holidays, the USCIS agents don't get to see theirs'

I've never celebrated Thanksgiving with my husband....

I've never celebrated Thanksgiving with my husband....

I'm sure that would provide amble motivation. That said, such a thing would never be done with government workers....

And neither have I.. never a Thanksgiving.. New Years.. Christmas.. Birthday (either).. or most any other holiday that would come to mind... Got close on a birthday once. We were going to be together for new year's this year but it costs too much as compared to a week later. I'd love to be there for it but with all the other costs coming up it seems hard to justify spending 600USD more to be there a week sooner even if it is for New Years. Oh well, maybe next year :(

I had so much hoped that it would be "No more than 5 months" instead of "At least 5 months." Sure must be nice to have been routed to Vermont, no?

Unfortunately holiday time is usually dead at offices no matter where you work. As slow as they've been going when not in the midst of Turkey Day, Christmakkauh, and New Years I can't imagine things are going to get any faster till after the beginning of January.

I hope you're right, but it's getting hard to hold my breath.. I did not mentally prepare for more than 5 months at USCIS. 8 months from July will put us past our first anniversary.

Neither had I. I am also sadly not holding out any hope for any kind of movement until the start of January at the earliest. Last I heard, there still hasn't been a single July approval (or even touch) since we all got dumped in the box.

Sue and I are officially at 4 full months in a few days, and it won't be long till 4 months since the last touch with no movement in sight. :(

I had really hoped to be stuck at USCIS for just 3 months or less like all the lucky VSC people. Of course, to be honest I figured that's where we would go. :(

Happy Thanksgiving... such as it is...

I hope not, though I fear you may be right. If it were so late, it would completely wreck our plans for 2012. :(

Wasn't it nice of the guy to tell you first that it is within normal time? The way things are going, I'll be calling them myself in another 34 days.... so much for less than five months :(

I called twice and they told me they couldn't put in the service request. First I was told call back in 15 days, second I was told 151 days wasn't 5 months, and to call back December 1st. Was told I couldn't speak to a manager either time because they have the exact same information the agents do, if the agent couldn't put in a service request they couldn't etc etc, and that there was no one higher to speak to.

So obviously if you got a service request, someone must be able to do it: what did you say to them ayomide?
