From the approvals in VJ i have noticed that CSC is still working on the petitions received in the beginning of May

I use to play around with my receipt number on the USCIS site to get an idea about the dates VSC was processing

This is the way you can do it in case any of you guys is interested .

Punch in your receipt number to see your on-line status. Start changing your receipt number by small numbers going backwards. Meaning looking at the receipt numbers before yours. Keep going until you find one that is approved. The receipt number before the one that was approved will tell you the date the petition was filed and give you an idea of the date the petitions are being worked on

It did keep me entertained until i received an RFE which through me of the loop. Normal processing times did not apply anymore

Hope this helps and wish you all a speedy approval

Cipollina, I guess, this game with the numbers is relative  . And how do you track it? By the last 4 digits? I've played with that and noticed that some petitions which had been received after May 16th have lower numbers than mine. Logically to think they should have been assigned higher numbers (ascending). Plus, USCIS handles other issues rather than only I-130 petitions. Which range does your number fall in (last 4 digits): 2xxx, 3xxx etc? Mine is in 5xxx.

Nickky,

Lower numbers than yours are the ones that are assigned to applications that are filed before your priority date. If you search here in VJ the explanation for the receipt numbers it will give you a better understanding but from what i understood is that last 4or 5 numbers are assigned based on the working day per USCIS calendar. My understanding is that receipt numbers go up. Mine was in the 4xxx. This is for entertainment purposes and I used it to keep me busy and give me a rough idea as to where I stood before the RFE and I found it to be somehow accurate.

Well, I agree with that , but I was talking about i130 petitions with lower numbers after my priority date, which is May, 17th :D .

I bet, even USCIS has no explanation for that phenomena :D.

NVC Case number -

first 3 are the indication of the US consulate,

next 4 are the current year 2011,

the next 3 work like this: if the case is generated on July 31, then it is 500 plus the number of days July 31 in the year 222(31+28+31+30+31+30+31) = 722

the last 3 is the serial number of the day - like if the case is the 50th case entered, it is 050

Thus it is XXX2011722050.

USA

01/08/13 - Approved and GC is order for production on 1/8/14

09/12/13 - Case transferred to CSC. NOA2 received on 09/18/13

08/30/13 - Biometrics Done - No walk ins allowed at this LSC (received on 8/16/13).

08/05/13 - NOA1 (received on 08/10/13)

08/01/13 - Mailed I-751 (received on 8/2/13 - check cashed on 8/5/13)

12/28/11 - Received SSN (applied on 12/20/11, as we didn't get based on DS-230 options)
11/28/11 - Received Green Card (Expires on 10/30/13) - Welcome Letter on 11/17/11
10/30/11 - POE - Houston, TX

Chennai Consulate (40 days)
10/28/11 - Received Visa papers and Passport at VFS
10/25/11 - Interview Cleared Successfully (Spouse was not allowed in)

NVC: (90 days from NOA2 to Consulate)
08/31/11 - Case Completed (Interview 10/25/11) - Received at Chennai on 09/19/11
07/22/11 - NVC Case Number

USCIS: (92 days)

6/21/11 - NOA2 (NOA1 on 3/25/11) - took a month to get to NVC
3/21/11 - I-130 sent to USCIS Lockbox, Chicago.

Request For Evidence - one will get an RFE if the information provided in the I-130 petition is sufficient. It is a good sign, as it indicates that ones case has been processed, though it may delay the process by 15 - 20 days.

I hope you sent them a better copy.

If you have sent them the original, then make sure you talk to NVC supervisor and get that moved to your DS-230 packet (when it will be sent) after your case gets approved and moved to NVC and when you get your NVC Case number from NVC.

Sorry, I wasn't sure as you guys were talking of the last 4 digits - USCIS breaks the CIS number having last 5 digits (Example WAC XX XXX XXXX). I could be wrong!
