I get an email from my lawyer today stating that she received a RFE, wanting to know if my husband's ex wife had the kids while they were married, and she did , well they're wanting a copy of his marriage license that will show that he was married to their mom. He's been divorce almost 4 years and his ex wife abandon the kids, meaning she has no contact with them whatsoever, I'm upset because I asked the lawyer initially do he need to prove that he has custody of the kids and she said no, the divorce papers would be fine! So we just went ahead with the paper work in filing for the two minor kids!! It's bad enough I feel like I've been waiting forever and now this!! So my question is with having received this , it's probably going to prolong things a month huh, my husband is going to submit the info to the lawyer tomorrow

Guys try not to call NVC everyday for the sake of your sanity

I waited for more than 20 days for our case number ( called every day)and the last day before i received it i called them 3 times.Last call was at 9 pm.They said no case number.

Call AVR at the end of each day and you will know. NVC OPs dont tell you much anyway. Hang in there. The worst is behind us and we made it it this far. Save some of that adrenaline and energy for the interview :)

Well, if the AVR constantly keeps telling me that my case has not been received yet or I've entered the wrong number  and the operator tells it's in the building, I'd still think that the operators may have more up-to-date info.

But, again you never know: what might seem to be logical for you - doesn't have logical explanation at NVC:D.

Well, it kept me busy months ago, before I've ever dared  to start i-130 process

ARGHHHHHH NVC received my case on Sept. 12th. That blows. They said to wait 10-20 business days after they received it. I'll call back in 2 days then. DANG IT :crying:

UGHHH I'm so sorry about that. What a terrible set-back. People seem to be going faster nowadays getting approved so maybe you won't have to wait as long.

Yeah I know Nickky

There is no winning.... just constantly trying.... :)

Might I suggest overtime at work to keep busy...

Personally I have turned into a Julia Child and baked almost daily for the people at my office.

A bunch of extra pounds later I have turned into one of the most loved people in the office and that makes overtime bearable :)

On the down side, i think i might have set people's expectations too high.they are in for a disappointment when my husband gets here ...

Any time I call the NVC - I hear different stories on my case: either it had been received on September 5th, or it's in the building, or it has been just received and etc  .

Today, just recently, I've talked to really nice lady from NVC and she had said that my file had been scanned into the system on September 6th.

So either I'm not getting something on how the NVC assigns ## or there's a glitch in their system.

My understanding is: once it scanned into the system - the case # is being generated right away. Same like we got our NOA1s.

If I'm wrong, please correct me.

I don't know who you're talking to but my operators told me to wait 10-20 days once your file has arrived. That means you'll most likely get your case number next week (if not sooner), and me the week after that.

That sounds about right. You guys are getting close.

We are still waiting for an interview date and every time i call we are told different things but the bottom line is that scheduling for November will be done the second week of October

Canada has the electronic filing and from what i have read here it takes 15 days from case complete to get an interview date. Not sure about France but by the the stats here it will take about 2 months from the case complete to interview date...so bye bye thanksgiving for us...looking forward to Christmas ( hope not Valentine)

GOT MY CASE # TODAY !!!!!!. NVC received my case on 5th, today is 23rd. Hopefully, NVC is picking up :D .

So AVR is basically useless. I called AVR at 13:15 (CST) - no case in the system.

16:43 (CST) - operator checked my e-mail address, entered my wife's e-mail.

So, I was provided with:

1. Case #, which starts with MTLXXXX (thank God, it has not been assigned with one to Ukraine  , since my wife came originally from there).

2. IIN # - the operator told me it might take up to 2 weeks  for the payments to be invoiced.

3. ID for DS260 and DS261 - also way from now as she told. They've just barely entered my case .

Items 2 and 3 she didn't really seem to provide me with, but I politely have pressed on her  and she has given up.

Bottomline: keep calling NVC everyday, in my case I was checking AVR every day and the operator - every other.

Good luck to everyone waiting for their cases' ## !

congrats nickky

happy for both of you

you guys might get a November interview or maybe sooner

Thank you very much, Cipollina !

Sooner- better, but as long as she has her interview before PCC expires - I'm fine with that as well :hehe:.

Aww you're so lucky!! And so ahead of me. Why did they send my case waaaaaaaay later. :bonk:

I'm depressed...but happy for you!

Let me know how it goes.

Thank you very much, Allegra, too !

I'd really want you to get your case # next week, Allegra (F) !

I've already sent OPTIN e-mail to NVC, since I'm doing EP for Montreal.

Next thing would be to go over my i-864 package, insert with Foxit Phantom (really cool software compare to Acrobat Reader and Adobe Acrobat) case #, merge files into one .pdf, print my i-864, sign, scan, get one .pdf file ready, and as soon as NVC charges me - send it via e-mail.

I've already filled DS-230 for my wife and it's gonna be handy for her when she does her DS260 online. Have no clue, though, how much should I charge my wife for that and which sorts of payments are acceptable :P !

It goes fast from here Nickyy

It look like you have all the docs ready so in about 10-15 days you should get case complete.2 more weeks after that to get the interview appointment letter and about 2 months from the cc to interview date.

How long are your wife’s PCCs good for?

It seems like finance is your forte so I am confident that you will figure out what and how to charge your wife for all the work you are doing :)

There is a member here that is very knowledgeable about the Canada process. The name is Saylin. Here is a thread she started for September NVC filers

Good Luck and hope you guys get an interview date very soon :thumbs:
