I've just talked to an operator from NVC. They got my case received from USCIS on September 5th (NOA2 as of August, 31st). Now they'll be trying :D to enter it into the system, which might take up to 20 business days . The good part of it - the case had not been lost some where between the USCIS and the NVC, like it might have been shipped overseas .

Happy for you Nickky

Keep on calling them.It does not take 20 business days to get a case number. Hopefully the backlog that was created last months has cleared a little.

You should be able to send your docs electronically since Canada is one of the countries that allows that. Hopefully it will be a swift journey

Good Luck

aww man you think they got mine?

I called the automated thingy and it says my case has not arrived yet. I am too afraid of calling and them telling me to wait 5 million months.

You need to talk to a live person, Allegra , which is option "5".

Thank you, Cipollina  !

I hope, they will assign correct case's name and #, which should start with MTLxxxxxxxx (MTL stands for Montreal where the CR1/IR1 visas are being issued).

Yeah, I have all the packages ready to be fired out, just called my wife and asked her about sending me color copies of her passport's bio page and her Canadian PR card.

And did emphasize to her on my getting those papers not later than next week. Otherwise late fees would be applied .

I see....i like the fact that you and your wife are on a financial plan and already negotiating late fees and all :rofl:

We lucked out before i went on vacation

I had to fly out at 3 pm on September 2nd and received the e-mail for the IV fee that day at 11:20 am. Paid it and allowed me to print the cover sheet right there and then.Ran to the post office and mailed everything. Due to the long weekend it was received on the 6th and case complete on the 9th. Now we are awaiting an interview date which by the looks of it it will be somewhere around thanksgiving... :((.

Oh well..now i can sit back and chill..I did my part :)

HAHA that's funny. I had him fill the missing papers out over skype with me and then had my mom pick them up at his house before she left for Los Angeles from Paris.

Have everything ready to GO!

Thanks'Allegra+Hadrien'

We had plenty of time between the Noa2 and the NVC case number to get everything ready. Taxes, pay stubs and I-864 were ready before the NOA2.Went to HR and got the employment letter right when we received the approval text. Police certificates took about a week but thanks to DHL ( and the good chunk of money that they ask to ship an envelope) we had everything ready in about 9 days.

I went and visited my spouse in Albania and I had fun but not enough time. Weather over there was still nice so we managed to go to the beach for about 5 days.... than I flew back to the states and reality and NVC hit :)

What would we do without skype?

Congrats on completing all paperwork and wish you a speedy journey through NVC

Gotta love skype. We just leave it on and work side by side. lol.

ANYWAY I CALLED NVC - my case is in the building. They said to call back Tuesday or Wednesday.

My understanding is that all documents that are not in English need to be translated.

In Albania translating documents can turn out to be a complicated process. Documents need to be translated, notarized and send to the ministry of foreign affairs for authentication. None of these services are free.

US has something similar called an Aposille. Maybe you want to check what the requirements for France are

We missed the October interview scheduling slot and are very disheartened. November is too far away.At this point I would love to be together by Thanksgiving. Turkey will taste so much better. So NVC please don’t break my heart twice :)

Good Luck you guys on getting your case numbers and wish you a quick journey through NVC

I've just called NVC about case # and still the same standard answer. What a red tape !

I decided to call them every other day and check your status to see if you got the case number (which means mines close behind).

I'll drive myself nuts if I call them 20 times a day. :bonk:

The closer you think you're getting, well you're not.

There is hope out of CSC afterall. We recieved our approved NOA2 today, with NOA1 received 15 May 2011.

Congrats! But was hoping it wouldn't take this long. Well hope we're not too far behind from getting our NOA2.

Guys try not to call NVC everyday for the sake of your sanity

I waited for more than 20 days for our case number ( called every day)and the last day before i received it i called them 3 times.Last call was at 9 pm.They said no case number.

The next morning i called the AVR at 7:00 am and there was the case number assigned the day before. I was so mad at NVC OP but happy we finally received it. The point of getting your case number and IIN is that we can send the DS-3032 and start paying the invoices. Things that could not be done the same day we received the case number. we sent the DS-3032 that day and it was rejected with the instructions to resend it the day we received the first bill which was 3 days later. The I-864 bill will take another 3 days to show paid.Only than can you print the bar coded page and send the docs. It does not hurt to check the bottom of the page and see if it allows you print it before it shows paid. We were able to do so 5 hours before it showed paid.It might not sound much but it saved us a whole day at the post office. 5 hours later the post office would have been closed.

There are major backlogs at USCIS and NVC for reasons no one knows, so be patient and go about your day and avoid talking to a live person as much as you can. ( easier said than done..i am the living example of the opposite)

Call AVR at the end of each day and you will know. NVC OPs dont tell you much anyway.Hang in there. The worst is behind us and we made it it this far. Save some of that adrenaline and energy for the interview :)
