Actually, I meant your best guess for total time until I GET the appointment date (least, most likely, longest), assuming I send I-130 this week and do EP, again, assuming all goes smoothly. :clock:

25 to 45 days.

That is as much advance notice as yer gonna get.

HINT - study the timeticks for EP in yer other topic.

I called DoS this morning and the lady told me that my fiances appointment date is July 19. The letter was mailed on July 1. The most time I could have had was 19 days. If we had waited on the letter... who knows.

The lady was really nice. I called right at 8:30 and the whole affair lasted about 2 minutes. No waiting on hold at all.

We've gone over that, as well, in one of yer prior topics.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

@ifearyeti: CONGRATS & Best of Luck on the Interview! Please let us know how it goes!

A few questions: 1) Where in China is your fiancé? 2) How did she make out with the Police Cert., etc. translations? Did they charge 1,000 yuan? She doesn't have much time now to get the certified translations. 3) Did you let your work know/are you going to go?

@Darnell: Brain dead yesterday from too little sleep/too much celebration. Got you mixed up with someone on another Forum. :bonk:

Yes, I DO have your estimates, THANKS! On another note: have you/will you update your EP Guide?

My fiance is from Laohekou, Hubei. She got the notary leader there to agree in principle to 500 yuan for all of the notarized certificates. She had to speak some english for him first though, and now he wants some sort of invitation letter to say why she is going to the USA. We haven't got the p4 packet yet. He also wants to have a look at me before she leaves China. He's worried that she will get into a bad situation in the USA. Her doctor also wants to meet me, so maybe we'll take a train to Hubei after the interview while the Visa is still processing. He did give her an application for some sort of 10,000 yuan grant from the chinese government for poor chinese people traveling abroad. The guy said he would have them ready two days from when he gets the invitation letter.

AS for work, I told them I'm going to China next week. I'll be back when I'm done. It went over to mixed reviews.

Ah, the local administrator. These guys, in the small towns, are generally idiots. We had a similar problem with the local notary, and went to the larger city nearby. They called and straightened out the small town guy pretty hard, and when we went back, they supplied the documents we needed. Letter of invitation and having a look at you is absurd.

Hey it seems that all of us are doing the trans-Pacific shuffle... the main questions are: How soon? and How many times? Ah yes, dancing to the beat of their drum. :dancing:

But, the result will be worth it? RIGHT?

Hang in there, remember it is a marathon, not a sprint....

Wishing all good fortune.

YMMV,
