What is that pre-interview/yellow letter. What does it say on it?

It usually requests you bring certain items to your interview. Somtimes it has a single item such as a Driver's license and other times it can contain a few requests such as IRS transcripts, etc...

Not everyone receives it...

Oh I received an interview appointment letter, which showed the date, time and place of my interview. But I never received the infamous yellow/pre-interview letter.

So all this information is updated on your online case status updates? Because if you didn't receive your interview letter, and didn't sign up for email alerts/ online updates how would you know when your interview was?

We signed up for email/text alerts using Case Status Online so we can keep track of the movements of our cases. Now, if you didn't sign up for it, you basically find things out through the letter in the mail i.e. NOA, Biometrics appt, yellow letter, interview appt letter.

Correct. If you do not sign up for email notifications, then you will just wait to get things in the mail. The email notifications, however, do not contain anything besides what the step entails. It will not specify dates, times or anything else. It is a generic email that everyone receives the same exact copy.

The yellow letter does not have any email notification associated with it. So the only way to know if they sent you one or not is if you see it in the mailbox.

I agree. The only good thing about these notifications is you have an idea on when to expect the letter in the mail. However, this case status online works for some, it doesn't for others. I relied heavily on it and so far it has never failed me. When they informed me that they mailed me something I usually get it within 4 days average.

I misunderstood some of the previous posts and thought that the yellow letter WAS the interview letter, not the pre-interview letter :bonk: lol

no idea why they would have to send an additional letter before the official one :wacko: lol

oh well, USCIS works in its own unique way!

I think to some it became like a consolation letter from them, just to let you know that your case is not forgotten ;)

Received a white letter to appear for interview on OCT 5th. The letter is titled: Request for Applicant to Appear for Naturalization Initial Interview (I hope it is the only one I have to appear to), and requests to bring original documents used as evidence, the letter, the GC, SS Registration, Passport, among other documents. I thought the letter was sent from NBC, but to my surprise, it came from the Field Office.

I might be heading for an RFE, but oh well.. will cross my fingers.
