Hi all. so my wife and i are almost done getting all out paperwork done. ran into a snag that i just for the life of me cant understand.

the Notario in anserma wont notorize an affadavit from her parents because she says she doesnt believe its a true marriage?? Can you believe this?

First i am sitting here thinking ok, so what is the deal with this person and why wont the just whitness her parents signing the affedavite, i mean what is it any buissiness of theirs anyways dont they just notorize like we do here in the USA??

so i am at a loss, any suggestions as to what i should do? her parents and family where the only ones at our wedding because my parents and family couldnt afford to be in colombia, so i really need their documents to make our case stronger, i spent over 5 weeks with them and my wife during the holidays so as i said they are a big part , i have ones from my family and freinds here but non of them were at the actual wedding nor have they seen my wife and I together as a couple as her family has. anyways thoughts??

Go to a different notario? That's weird though I admit I have no direct experience with them in Colombia (yet.)

as Ryna said go to another notaria because the lady is crazy?

Why are you doing this?

Whish document are you requesting?

Because if you are looking for a copy of your colombian marrige certificate just ask for one and done.

Be more clear on the document reuqest.

If you are looking for a notarize statement of real marrige you should try to get your family on the US to do this .

I think you should ask for a different Notario or, havent you considered to talk with a lawyer?? Maybe one of them can help you with your problem. How come the notario is stating this? Does he have any evidence to support it? This is really crazy, hope you find a solution very soon!! Blessings :)

Hi guys thanks for all the responses, the documents i am trying to get are letters of affedavit from her parents that we have a sincere and loving relationship. they have first hand account and were present at our wedding along with spending lots of time with me over Xmas. i can get my family in the states to do them but they have never met my wife, nor have the ever seen us together as her family has. which is why i wanted them to do atleast 2 and my family to do the rest. all i am trying to get a notary to do is whitness her parents sign the affedavit and stamp it. and i cant get em to do it.

You don't need a notario stamp on an affadavit like this. All the parents have to do is sign it, I would recommend them putting address and phone number on it as well.

*the only items in the packet that need to have civil "stamps" is police cert, marriage cert and divorce decrees.
