Hi! im rechelle and i have a lot of questions regarding the requirements for my AOS inteview scheduled on thursday.sept14.first problem,i dont have any government issued i.d except my passport,(i dont have ss or state id cause when i applied for it they couldnt issue me one cause my I-94 is lapse)will they allow me in using my passport as an i.d. (my maiden name on it).....the other problem is,im not on the apartment lease.heres the story, the owner said they need to do a background check before they can put me on the lease but i would be needing a ss number which i dont have and cant have, not until i have a greencard.(i-94 lapse)...also,in health insurance,my husband tried to put me in but the company said we're late,we should have done it within 30 days after the marriage. As of now,We only have electric, phone, cable bills etc. and our wedding pictures. Will that be enough as our proof that we're living together?interview's on thursday, thats 2 nights from now,i dont think i could sleep good, this is bothering me...

Passport will work as a valid ID.

I think you should also try and get a drivers license asap as a supporting id.

i tried to get a non-driver's license but they cant give me one cause my I-94 is lapse...do you think my proof will be enough? ive never been so nervous in my entire life... :(

The bills with both names are good.

here is a list.

  • Do you have a joint bank account? Checking, savings account?
  • Joint credit card?
  • Are you a beneficiary on his life insurance?
  • Health club membership?
  • Receipts from you or him buying gifts for each other?
  • Letters to you and/or your spouse from friends or family addressed to your home address.
  • wedding photos with more than just you and your spouse in the pictures.
  • A list of friends and family that attended the wedding with their phone numbers and address. You should have this from when you did wedding invitations.

Also think hard about your spouse's daily routine what likes for breakfast, what is in the bed room color of the walls... Have him do the same for your routines.

study the list of questions here.

You should do fine just relax, the utility bills should be good; maiden name is OK it is not uncommon for name change to be done later.

Put dates and names on the back of wedding pictures.

Again think hard about where things are in your home, and habits of your spouse, and have him do the same.

You will be OK! :)

Remember that you are mostly trying to prove residence. They also love to see the mingling of finances. Anything that shows you live with your husband is good. It may be something as simple as a receipt where you paid a bug man or bought some materials for a remodeling project.

Perhaps you have letters from SS denying your case. If they were mailed to your address they are perfect evidence.

I don't mean to add to your worry but I think you need more than a couple of utility bills and pictures. I can have the electricity turned on most anywhere in the country from the telephone. That alone does not prove I live in that residence.
