I don't know if you realize it, but we had a topic in this forum recently about stereotyping. The VAST majority of the people in the Philippines forum seemed to feel it is better to just view people as individuals. I don't know if I've seen any person (well, maybe one) who says that Filipinas are superior to American women. Most of us just seem to be happy with the person we've found and we leave it at that.

No offense, but it just seems to me that you're fighting a battle here without an opponent.

I'm glad there was such a thread. I really don't get much time on VisaJourney anymore. My apologies if I seem to be butting in.

I've been a member of this community since late 2004. There weren't Regional Forums then, and consequently we all found out a lot about other cultures by mere virtue of the site structure. Now, this does not mean everybody was always sitting around the virtual campfire singing kum-bi-ya. But, there was less "cheerleading" for one country over another. And I do believe there was more diversity - a general air of understanding about what makes us all different that brings us all together.

Meh - I don't know if that explains things to you or not.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

I think our parents will be offended if our husbands will thank their lucky stars, rather than the way we were raised.

Just saying..

*shrugs*

It is not meant to be an offense to your families. Children are not pressed out with cookie-cutters by the family unit, you know. Stuff happens that forms a persons character outside the parents control.

I really don't see this as "cheerleading". Just mutual interests and likes for a particular country and culture. It's about appreciation not cheerleading. That implies that there is an opponent and I seriously doubt anyone has anything bad to say about others and their backgrounds/journeys vs. another. DavenRoxy, my turn for the flame suit when I say that seniority doesn't automatically convey wisdom or knowledge. Nor does education make one intelligent or a licensed person a driver.

Yes, nature vs. nurture.....if I'm not mistaken the Philippine people are more family oriented than most countries. The family unit is much stronger (than especially the States), more, much more respect for the elders and many times extended families live , learn and love together than most families in the world. Just my two cents worth of observations and I hope some people correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't know if you venture outside this forum much or not. If you don't, you might be surprised.

And I'm trying to be nice here. Are you trying to start something?

Quite to the contrary, I'm not trying to "start" anything, I'm trying to increase your and my knowledge of others without being confrontational. I'm not sure if the surprising people that you speak of are USC or Philippine Citizens. That would make a difference to in this conversation since I think it would validate my point further. Just trying to enjoy my Sunday morning as I hope that you are too. Best intentions and wishes to you and yours,

Hmmmm. Probably USC's.

As an USC yourself I'm glad we agree on this. Often it is the petitioners that talk smack and trash talk on other people's forums. Thanks be to the mods for keeping this negativity to a minimum as the majority of people here are civil and kind and sincerely would like to help others causes and help broaden each others horizons. Hope you enjoy your Sunday and early Happy 4th of July!!!

Once again, Jack NAILS it on the head.

Yes, men of means and not pikers or brokety broke beer bums are more attractive to the lovely ladies of the Philippines, but ALL relationships are exploitative in nature. We seek what we want from others. So if a 45 year old American gets tired of the Old Nag Hag Bag Americana types, he goes over seas and is INSTANTLY treated as if he was Brad Pitt to the young, nubile and beautiful Filipinas. It is up to the man how far he opens his wallet. If he gets what he wants from her, then she has the right to get what she wants from him, and BOTH are satisfied. Then things worked out fine and they are in love.

Drama Kings here just don't get how the world works.

>ALL relationships are exploitative in nature

All relationships are exploitative but somethings you get from the relationship are considered taboo in our culture. Like money (e.g gold digger). No one would care if what you were getting from the relationship was affection, intelligent conversation, etc.

What goes around comes around. When that nubile, hot Filipina wife gets tired of her flabby Old Fart with his shriveled up love gun, and finds herself a much younger stud, it will complete the circle.

Take out the money, and just ignore it. the problem is the focus. MONEY MONEY MONEY. it is all one moeny. Let us just face the fact. MONEY is NOT the relationship. Everyone seems to be saying,, he has money. Whether he is wealthy in this country or another country. If wealth is such a thing, and money is such an object, then why, oh why tell me girls are not beating down my door in the good ole USA???? the problem with other countries or cultures in other is not that the girls want to leave their country. But that there are not enough guys to choose form. The girls outnumber the guys tremendously. In Russia, many girls if not married by 25, rarely do marry. In the Philippines, many girls are married by age 21. Please note, I am not saying all girls, or most. but very many girls are married young. This affects the girls there. Some girls have higher standards. Yes, there are some scammers, but guys have to be able to detect this. But the main reason for most girls is to find a guy for a long lasting relationship. One of my tests is to spend one or two days "penniless" when visiting the girl. I literally set it up to where I cannot get money out of the bank. (at least from checking, there is money in savings.) If the girl runs, then she is not the girl for me.

Philippines Sex ratio

Sex ratio: at birth: 1.05 male(s)/female

under 15 years: 1.04 male(s)/female

15-64 years: 1 male(s)/female

65 years and over: 0.76 male(s)/female

total population: 1 male(s)/female (2011 est.)

Definition: This entry includes the number of males for each female in five age groups - at birth, under 15 years, 15-64 years, 65 years and over, and for the total population. Sex ratio at birth has recently emerged as an indicator of certain kinds of sex discrimination in some countries. For instance, high sex ratios at birth in some Asian countries are now attributed to sex-selective abortion and infanticide due to a strong preference for sons. This will affect future marriage patterns and fertility patterns. Eventually, it could cause unrest among young adult males who are unable to find partners.

On women greatly outnumbering men: This is true.. but it is only true for those 65 and over where there are 1.8 million men to 2.5 million women in the Philippines. For every other age range the ratio is either 1 to 1 or there are slightly more men.. These numbers tend to hold for most countries except in Asia where the younger generation has a much (much) higher percentage of males and to a much lesser extent in Europe and USA where the percentage of girls compared to boys has increased slightly in the last 20 years. This is mostly due to the recent ability to determine the sex of a child soon enough to still be able to legally have an abortion: Western countries prefer baby girls, Asian countries prefer baby boys.

On the rest of it: I respectfully disagree with much of what you have said but I am guessing you don't want to hear why.

Your fiancé is very lovely.

Let me give you some tips about dating in the USA and how to pick up Chicks.

1.) Act like you don't care too much about her, It drives them crazy and then you become a challenge.

2.) Act like you have no desire to have sex with them, It drives them crazy and they will try to jump you just to make you like them

3.) Be Cocky and stand off, Be the bad boys cuz they love the Bad Boys

4.) Make them pay for most of the date, Become a user this twist thier mind

5.) Don't let them know where you live or where you work and make it difficult for them to be able to get hold of you
