hey fellow Philippines VJ'ers, my wife got her NBI clearance already in preparation for submitting our package to NVC. She did not get it authenticated from the authentication office at Malacanang Palace. Is that needed, or is the original she got from NBI ok to use? thx, bernie and sherwin

also, is the NBI clearance all that is needed or is a police cert from local manila police needed also?

If you are talking about the seal and red ribbon being placed on it, no that doesn't need to be done. Just need it to be issued by the NBI and I believe it's best that it not be over 6 months old when submitted

Here is the offical word from the embassy Website. They say it's good for a year, but I still say try to not have it be over 6 months old when the visa application is submitted.

NBI CLEARANCE. Applicants aged 16 years and older must have a valid Record Clearance for Travel Abroad Purposes from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). An official letter of explanation from the NBI is required for any notation of “No criminal record”, No pending criminal case” or “With derogatory record.” NBI is located along Taft Avenue in Manila. For immigration purposes, an NBI clearance is considered valid only for a year from the date it is issued.
