There's really no way around it, you really need to go the Philippines. Of course to fullfil the K1 requirement and the requirement of Love/Life of really getting to know the person you want to spend the rest of your life with. You need to make sure that she is the real deal. I know the economy is tough, but don't make it an excuse to not be able to get to the Philippines. Whatever your doing for a living may not work well in this economy, You need to adapt to the way things are changing here in the US. Maybe your tied down by your bills. Find a way to cut out and get rid of some of those bills by making sacrafices with some of the accessories you don't need in life. If you really want to make your fantasy become a reality, then do what you have to do to get the job done. When I go to visit my fiance in the Philippines it costs me about 5,000 to 6,000 dollars for an entire month. And that's living really good there for the month. I usually leave with at least 1,000 in my pocket. Everything is fairly cheap there. And if you go there for a week or two you really wouldn't need that much money.

Immigration is a long drawn out and difficult process. Don't waist your time trying to get a tourist visa. Just go to the Philippines then when you come back fill out the K-1 petition. It's best to not try beat around the bush with immigration because it will bite you in the a$$. Read up and study the process in great detail and make sure that you and your fiance meet all of the requirements. Also figure out all of the monetary costs associated with the process. Good Lucj to you and your Fiance. I hope things work out. Take care.

Greetings,

I am one of the most HOPEFUL people and I can't help get it but I get excited to easily. Well my Fiancee and I have not met in person (with the US economy it so hard to raise the money). Her family made the offer of flying her out here and staying with me. But I was concerned that because she is 25, were engaged, and that we want to get married that they will turn her down.

Here is my dream which led to this Incredible amount of anxiety and disapointment. I could really use some advice here:

1.) Apply for a tourist Visa and stay for as long as it would allow. (I read it could be for up to 6 months)

2.) After the first month or so we get married. (the month or so is to establish if things are just as Great in person as they are online)

3.) She would stay with me and my parents. We all kind of stick together.

4.) We would provide for everything she could possibly need/want.

5.) Apply for Green card after we are married.

We haven't submitted any paperwork yet for anything. She has traveled to Italy last February. It was my hope to keep her here until next year when we Both go there for her brother's wedding.

Am I wasting my time?

Will she get approved if they know she is engaged to me?

I need strong advice here PLEASE

Don't let my hope and excitement go away. But I would appreciate honesty and cold hard truth.

Thank you!

As said in all posts you will have to go visit her. ANd again if you can't afford to visit here in Phils how are you going to afford 129f petition for fiancee or marry her and support her?

Divorced !st November 2012.

Married only 2 years 1 month

What if we process the paperwork for a K1 while she is here? If we process the paperwork after the first month would that be legitimate?

Entering US with intent to imimgrate would be a visa fraud.

So bring her over here on tourist visa for intent to immigrate her itself is considered a fraud and if USCIS is able to show that and a mis-representation at either interview or at entry would ban her entering US

First a tourist visa to bring finance here is fraud.

and next, tourist visa requires that she show a substantial amount of money in bank to cover her expenses here. And requires she shows she has property and job to return to after visa expires. not returing to her home, can be deportment from US and never coming here to live.

Why aren't you doing the K-1 financee visa. It is the best and shortest way. Also, the cheapest.

agreed, plus phil is a REALLLLLY cheap country.

so far,my fiance and i have spent something around 20k,for three trips and our k-1 ( including interview, which he was there for as well).

marrying a foreigner while might sound easy and quick,is actually the exact opposite.

Why aren't you doing the K-1 financee visa. It is the best and shortest way. Also, the cheapest.

K-1 is not cheaper than going the spousal visa route.

OP> As others have said, she most likely will not get a tourist visa, and even if she did, she cannot use that to travel to you, get married to you, and then stay in the US. You need to go visit her. Then, if you decide you want to marry, file for the K-1. You will need to have patience and money for the process as well.

129F Petition Filing Fee- $340.00

Visa Application Fee- $350.00

Adjustment of Status Fee- $1,070.00

Removal of Conditions Fee- $590.00

Total= $2,350.00

That is just for the cost of filing petitions and applications without the other various costs of obtaining all the documents needed for the process, shipping costs for mailing documents back and forth, medical fees, etc.

If you cannot afford to visit her now, you most likely cannot afford all the fees that will come with the immigration process. If that is the case, then you should wait until you have the funds to make it all happen.

I still can't believe they lowered this by $115 when everything else went up.. We were one of the "lucky" ones who paid $455 while the K-1 visa itself was still $131(?) only to watch it climb to $350 while waiting for I-129F approval (and having no say in whether we got a $131 or $350 visa interview date.)

:wow:

Just to reiterate what many have said. Don't do this. Bringing her here with the intent to get married and stay is fraud. And, if you can't afford the cost of a plane ticket to the Philippines, how can you afford the cost of a plane ticket for her to come here, not to mention the costs of the visa and supporting a wife and future family.

Regardless of all that, step outside the box and look at it this way. Every time someone abuses the tourist visa process to do what you are talking about, it makes it that much more difficult for the rest of us to have our relatives come over as legitimate tourists.

As a side note, it sounds like you need to get your financial house in order so you can go through the process normally and support your future wife here. Sorry, but an airplane ticket to the Philppines is not that expensive and once you are there, the costs are negligable. With a little planning and creativity, you can find cheap air fares anywhere in the world. Look at sites like travelzoo where you can find deals to different places and be flexible on the timing.

The costs of a trip to the Philippines are a lot less than the costs of fighting an immigration fraud case.

Indeed! We were also 'lucky' enough to have gotten to pay the $455 fee for the 129F, and then the higher visa and AOS fees as well. :(

ok, just re-read the original post and if this isn't a fraud that you are actively engaged in, then it sounds like a scam on her part just to get to the US. You are engaged to a woman you have never met (red flag) who has relatives in the US (red flag) and she is from a country where arranged marriages are not the norm (red flag). Her parents who you have also never met (red flag) are willing to fly her to the US (red flag) to marry you site unseen so to speak. If this is a legitimate relationship on both your parts (not just yours) then she and her parents will be willing to wait for you to come over and meet her and them in person and go through the process normally. Do yourself a favor and do this the normal way (it is difficult for a reason) and you can avoid a lot of heartbreak and future anguish.

I actually confused this thread with another similar one.

While it is not nearly as blatant as the other (asking for thousands of $$$ upfront), it is odd that the family is so willing to send her off the U.S. to marry someone when, not only have they not met you, the two of you have never met in person either. Tread carefully as it seems their goal may be to get a child into the U.S. knowing that she can petition them after she gains citizenship (in 3 years via marriage.) As others have suggested, I'd plan on a trip there (or even a third country) first for some in person evaluation of the situation.

My guess from similar cases it is to get her into the country and then she will disappear and go and live with other family members here.
