Hello everyone, I have a question I want to ask of everyone here who feels they received help from the Senator or Congressman or any officials. If you think you have received help from any official office please state what office helped and if it was a Republican or a Democrat that help you. I have gotten know where by asking for help and all I have asked were Republicans. So what up with that. I am a Repubican but it don't seem any of them are really fighting for me yet.

Honestly, when you're talking about legal immigration, it doesn't matter if they're Rep of Dem. They'll both help. A legal immigrant is a potential US citizen. A US citizen is another vote for them. They will help you if they can. They know how grateful you will be and that you will vote for them in the future and so will your spouse, who one day will be a US citizen too.

I only know the Senator I voted for that is in office now, has never replied or sent me any information when I asked for help. And the Congressman I voted for is writing CSC but not getting any results that I can see. If they want my vote next election there doing a poor job of showing it.

I second that. My senators office not only didnt help, but kept putting me off...they end up with a quite unpleasant letter. The congresswomans office acted like she cared to start with, but didnt have a clue of what was going on and wouldnt probe into it......no votes from me...

I contacted the office of Sen. Orin Hatch ®, including faxing in his form. I have not heard anything back. But it's been "only" two months since I sent in my application. Maybe his office does not think it's worth helping in until there is a longer wait. (?) To be fair, I have not been agressive in pursuing this. I figure the March/April/May/June people deserve to be approved first.

Where do you live? Who have you contacted? What was your method of contact?

The best thing to do is download the privacy form from your senator or congressman's website. Fill it out along with a copy of the letter Gary posted or the one Texasseoul used along with the list of approvals and dates. Fax to the senator's office. Call to follow up and find out who is assigned to your case. Ask for name, email and direct phone number.

If the person you speak to doesn't sound like they want to help or doesn't know about IMBRA, move on to the next contact. (This is not the time to educate them on IMBRA unless you have to - I skipped the idiot at my congressman's office when he couldn't give me the time of day, told me that I-129Fs normally take a year and half and said he didn't know what IMBRA was).

Each office has an "immigration liaison" or caseworker - that's the person you are looking for. Don't sit back and wait for them to get back to you - ask when they will make the inquiry and exactly when you can expect a call back from them.

Good luck!

It may not be a question of party alignment, but the quality of the staff that works on immigration for that representative. Just a thought.

24 March 2009 I-751 received by USCIS

27 March 2009 Check Cashed

30 March 2009 NOA received

8 April 2009 Biometric notice arrived by mail

24 April 2009 Biometrics scheduled

26 April 2009 Touched

...once again waiting

1 September 2009 (just over 5 months) Approved and card production ordered.

Exactly - some are more experienced and more sympathetic than others - that's why you need to move on to someone who has a clue if the first person is a dumbo. The first person at my senator's office was MEAN - I bit my tongue (very hard for me), said thank you, and hung up. My congressman's office was downright dumb and uninformed - I moved on. In the end, I contacted another location of the same senator who was the person who ultimately helped me, as well as the second senator.

Point is, you don't have to stick with one senator or one office. Keep calling to you get someone who will help.

I live in Tulsa Oklahoma I have contacted the Senator and Congressman. I have talked by phone and sent them e-mails. I signed the paper to give them permission to inquire about my case and status. Any one knowing who could help me here would be apprecated.

True but I am a little upset right about now so it is effecting my thoughts. hahahaha

I don't mind name dropping, Senator Durbin's office is who I give credit to for my approval. I contacted Senator Obama and my Congressman LaHood and they were no help at all. The aid I talked to at Durbin's office, Tim Sullivan, was very helpful and didn't give up until I had my approval. As some of you may know I am a strong Republican and even though Durbin is a liberal as it gets he has earned my vote the next time he comes up for re-election. I do not forget someone that helps me regardles of their politics.

Regardless of the party, Senators and Congressman both try to help their constituents. They even don't ask, if you support their party or not.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview
