Getting stamped for work at the POE on a K1?

Hey all,

My fiance is eventually going to be coming over (if the stupid interview gets scheduled grr!) and he seems to think that there is a slim chance that the POE officer can stamp his passport/I-94 to work for 90 days. I didnt think that was possible. I thought you had to pay for the employment authorization, wait for it to be issued, and it only lasts 90 days. I also thought it was pointless as sometimes it takes longer than the 90 days to be issued and you have to pay.

I have tried to tell him we will just have to wait to apply for it when we do the AOS.

Please advise.

No chance. That is one of the downsides of the K-1

If a stamp is issued, which sometimes it is, it is totally useless. A K-1 cannot work until the EAD or greencard arrives
