Beneficiary Change of Address

Hello everyone,

Well I finally received all the documents for the DS-230, so I am back on this journey and I'm ready to send this in to NVC to complete this stage.

2 questions:

1. My husband moved (in 2010), but his important documents still go to his parent's house, and I was wondering how to answer question #13 (Present Address) on the DS-230? Or does it matter since I am his Agent and communication has been sent via email from NVC anyway.

2. Should we also submit a change of address to NVC for him? Is there a time limit?

We are in the same boat - of course waiting for NVC case # - we are planning to inform NVC of change in address (residential) and that the mailing address will be th. Then e old address (parents). Then fill the new addess for residential address. in DE-230. This is advise I got from experienced members.

Thanks for replying NavyK. We already have our case #, and as stated originally, getting ready to send the DS-230. Do you have a link to the thead where the members gave you that advise? I appreciate your responding.

Maybe I should clarify a little more to get more responses?

My husband's previous address was his parent's address, but now that he has moved I'm wondering which address to use so that the important documents would still go to his parent's address and not his new one (which I would normal ly enter on Line #13)?

Should I put a note/letter explaining? Would they even view it?

I wiil search and send you the link sometime today. My case is exactly the same though I haven't yet got my NVC Case Number. I moved to a new city on employment and want my mail to still go to my parents address. I will inform NVC of the same and will submit my I-864 with new address.

Your case is a little different, let me know if you husband have filed I-864! If he had already filed I-864, then he will have to submit a form I-865 Change of address where he have option to give a residence address and a different mailing address. If you husband has not submitted his I-864, then ask him to call NVC and give them the new address as his residence address and his parents address as the mailing address. In case your husband's parent/s joined as co-sponsorer, then let me know the full details (like whether his parenmt files a I-864 or I-864A) and I can advise you accordingly.

In DS-230, you will have to fill your husband's new address in item 16. Then fill his parents address in item 11, where you want your Green Card to be mailed. If you will be staying with your husband (I guess you would), then fill your husband's new address in item 10.

But if you choose to fill your husband's parents address in Item 10, then write "Same as Item # 10" in item 11.

Thanks NavyK...my responses are in your message...I also think I will attach a note to the DS-230 (after talking to NVC), to let them know the living address and mailing address are different.

Your case is a little different, let me know if you husband have filed I-864! Yes, I (Petitioner) have already filed my I-864. If he had already filed I-864, then he will have to submit a form I-865 Change of address where he have option to give a residence address and a different mailing address. Since I am also the sponsor, the I-865 would not apply in this case since I am not the one who moved. If you husband has not submitted his I-864, then ask him to call NVC Good idea, I (Petitioner) will give them a call...will let you know what they say and give them the new address as his residence address and his parents address as the mailing address. In case your husband's parent/s joined as co-sponsorer, then let me know the full details (like whether his parenmt files a I-864 or I-864A) and I can advise you accordingly.

I called NVC tonight. They said that I did not need to send a change of address for my husband (beneficiary) as they send the documents via email (nothing will go to his parent's address nor his new address). I can also just put his new address on the DS-230, and it will get corrected in the system that way.

Whew, I feel like I just made a mountain out of a molehill and delayed the documents unnecessarily.
