I was wondering if anyone had sent their I-129F petition in to CSC and then went over to the Philippines to wait for it's approval. I am planning to go to the Philippines on November 5th and stay until April 22nd, 2007, (maybe longer). Hopefully I can be there to help my fiancee with her preparation for her interview. If my I-129F gets approved while I am over there, do I have to come back to the states for anything concerning my fiancee's interview? I submitted my I-129F and CSC received it July 18th. I am taking copies of everything I submitted with my application over to the Philippines with me. Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

I have heard of many doing the same thing. So yes you can.

I wish I could also but since I have to work, is not an option, though my fiancee would love it.

Hmm, perhaps I could get a job teaching English at her school!

Good Luck.

robacjd,

Will there be someone who can receive your mail and inform you if you should get an RFE that you need to respond to?

And will you be able to provide financial sponsorship for your fiancee should she need it? (Most Phillipinas do need a sponsor, and the anecdotal evidence is that the consulate in Manila takes a dim view of any sponsor other than the petitioner.)

I came out here to stay with him while we wait and then we will come back home together. it isnt a problem at all for you to stay with her during your process but as Yodrak said..be sure there is someone who can recieve your mail to pass any RFE's or notices to you. I changed my mailing address over to my brother and he lets me know if anything comes. We also gave our fax number and email so that we get notification in this way too. Enjoy your stay with your fiance, have fun and good luck with your process! I hope you get a fast approval.

I will be doing the same thing but would wait for any RFEs first. Though I have someone here to receive my mail and inform me, the problem would be trying to get that person to put together any RFE requirements needed. With me here, I'm sure I would be responding to it right away and will know where all my documents and papers are. So just be sure whoever will be receiving your mail will konw where to look for any additional evidence or paperwork that is needed - just in case. Hopefully no signatures will be required by you on anything, then that woudl be mailing the stuff to Manila and you mailing it back. Those are the things I worry about if I leave right away. I sent my petition end of August and plan to wait until mid-November. Then I leave whether I get any RFEs or not. Good Luck!!

Something that one that is going to be staying in the philipines with their partner until interview, seriously has to keep in mind and consider.

as i believe has already been mentioned, will you be able to meet the income requirements with the I-134?

I've heard the Manila Embassy is more stringent with co-sponsors and might not accept one in a situation like this.

We are living in China and we are doing the entire K-1 process from China, even though my fiancee is German. Haven't had any problems so far.

You will need to have a mailing address in the US where CSC and NVC can send you mail. The mailing address won't be needed once it is moves to Manila though. The address of your family or a reliable friend will work just fine.

That's a nice opportunity. Go for it!

I cannot attest to what everyone else is stating (the Philippines not liking co-sponsors). But, something else to think about....

If you are planning on working there and being the I-134 sponsor, keep in mind that wages are most likely lower than the US requirement, and official salary documentation may be hard to come by. You will probably need a co-sponsor if you are planning on doing that. I work for a US company that pays enough for me to be the sponsor. Just something for you to chew on.

Absolutely, as long as someone can send you the RFE (if applicable), then you will be OK (with that part). However as Yodrak mentioned, will you be ok with the affadavit of support? Will you need a financial sponsor? If so, I have also read that K1s may have a problem with any sponsor other than the petitioner. You may want to do some research and/or call the embassy to ensure that all bases are covered. Cheers!!! - Sheriff Uling
