My fiance' and I have submitted a K1 visa application. She is from the Phillipines and I am from the US. I have been hearing a little about age difference being an issue with approval. I am 51 and she is 31. I realize this is a 20 year spread, but she is no teenager. I would think that it may be more of an issue if she were younger, say 18-25 and I was 38-45. We are almost 60 days into our wait after NOA1.

What do you VJ'es think? Will this be an issue?

Thanks.

I am 23 years older than my Fiancee, she is 21. At first I was worried about the age difference not only with the visa but what would friends and family on both sides think? Everyone has been very accepting and I believe when she goes to the interview the the CO will see what everyone else has which is we are a great match. Oh, not to mention I was very careful to ensure our supporting evidence is well laid out, but everyone should do that no matter the age difference..

Do not worry about it! You are fine! At 31, your fiancee is a grown woman able to make her own decisions and there's nothing wrong with the age difference, you are both adults. I'm around the same age as your fiancee and my family would think nothing of me marrying someone your age, they would be fine with it.

It's not like she's 24 and you're 86....yup, I'm looking right at you, Hugh Hefner

Your ages are EXACTLTY the same as Charina and myself. Age itself will not be problem. As mentioned here, when she is over 30, a 20 year difference is common for phil-am couples, and we never had it questioned at all during the visa process. The main thing is that you can show/prove that you are serious about being together. I think it was easy for us, as I visited her 3 times, one visit included attending the embassy interview.

When we first met I was concerned about our age difference, but after our first visit together, I have never thought about it again. It's just a difference of cultures. As long as neither of you are bothered by an age difference, or feel like there is an age difference, then no one else will either. Charina & I don't think about or even feel like there is an age difference (She makes me feel young, and not visa-versa). I personally think that part of the immigration process is subjective. So how you act together and are perceived (in-person & pictures ect) can have an effect on what the reviewers & interviewers think and decide.

Be patient, the end result of being together is definitely worth it.

Good luck & God bless you two.

Another thought is to have photos that include family members which show that everything is fine but from posts I have seen in the past I don't see any issues with it anyway.

Yeap the reverse could cause issues basically if the Petitioner is a female with a wide Age Difference. In some embassy,it doesnt count as a RED FLAG except in some extremist countries.Little age difference doesnt entirely qualifies one,Providing adequate information about Ongoing relationship is the Major key and constant communication

I have asked a number of times about our age difference US female 40. UK male 25, and everyone seems to say this is not a problem. Can you elaborate? We have an interview in 13 days.

from a director at VSC

Enough said. Now a hot issue, a very controversial one. There seems to be a trend in some countries of foreign men marrying American women and the women are considerably older. There is always a question if this is a problem. It never seems to be a problem for older men/younger women (My wife is 13 years younger, his wife is also considerable younger than him) Is it a problem? For us, USCIS, no. "Free to marry".
