Lagos Interview dates for CR1

Guess what I just spoke with my Congress women. She has been trying to see why it is taking so long for us Cr1 or IR1 to get interview dates. I first called NVC and they told me that they are scheduling this week so just wait. When I got off the Phone I then called my Blessed Congress women and she told me that she spoke with NVC today and they told her that NVC DOES NOT SCHEDULE APPOINTMENTS for LAGOS. That Lagos Schedules there own appointments for these cases. Lagos I guess said that they prefer to do this (pre NVC) I go are you serious then why the delay. Since they are giving interview dates so quick to K1's? She said that she also has a call into Lagos and also has called DC for someone to find out what in the Heck is going on. She said the State Department should have done something about this along time ago. She also said that since we are a married couple with a child that our case should have already been processed. I said it is already processed we are just waiting on a interview date. She then said that she is gonna email Lagos again and Put another call into them to find out why the Delay on all our cases. So, I said there is hope then. Since all we are is waiting on Lagos to give us a Interview date. Maybe by her flooding the embassy and DC with concern about what is going on. I pray they will start issuing the dates as quick or quicker than they have been for the K1. I pray that all our spouse interviews will be before October is over and that all our spouses will be here for all the Holidays to come. I know I would love that and I am looking forward to it.

I do have a question though. As far as I know we are just waiting on a Appointment date so, that he can go and get his medical, police done. And then the Interview.

Does anyone know is there anything that he can bring to the Embassy stating that our case is completed so they can pull his file and give him the interview date? I know when we did the K3 he brought the NOA in and they give him his interview date. But as far as I know for the IR1 we are waiting on them?? Am I right or Wrong.

As soon as I hear anything back from the Congress women I will let you all know. I pray that they get the fire in them and let our spouses come home. I know all things are possible through Jesus Christ. I am prayin. It is all gonna come to pass soon. And all be over. My baby gets to see her Daddy soon. I don't think your congress woman has that correct. what happens is that lagos sends the amount of interview dates that are available the following month to the NVC and the NVC schedules them according to case completion. I believe the delay was due to the visa lottery folks as they get priority because they have a deadline in which they must apply and process the visa. That process is now over so there are many more spaces available hence the speed up in scheduling the appointments.

how do you know this forsure. She told me she spoke with her Rep at the NVC. So I dont know she has given me good INfo this far. Sorry

You could always call NVC and ask them yourself. There are certain countries, that once case is completed they are forwarded immediately to the consulate and then the consulate, keeps those cases and schedules them accordingly. For others like some of the African countries, they are kept at the NVC, the interviews dates are actually scheduled automatically by computer according to the case completion dates. I know it doesn't seem like it but they are speeding up, last month, they scheduled all folks form NOV 23- Jan 11 which is a big chunk. I also notice that the cases usually are forwarded early in the week of the second week of the month, so folks like rprater/siyonri who's case was completed in january, u could probably call to see if you've been scheduled.

This sounds accurate. I found out about my hubby's interview date by calling NVC during the second week of each month. Case completed in June, Interview scheduled in August for the end of September. I was told by the NVC that scheduling for our Cr1 is done by the NVC via an automated system.

We were told by our congressman's office and NVC that I130 interviews are scheduled by NVC. K visas are scheduled by the Lagos embassy.

Also we were informed that Lagos is struggling with a high volume of visa applications. Lagos schedules cases that they have in-house first then open slots remaining on the schedule are made available to the NVC for scheduling completed cases that the handle.

Since K visa cases are just sent to Lagos as they are completed, they get scheduled a lot faster.

If you have ever been to the embassy you can attest to the high number of people lining up to apply, interview and inquire for visas. Interviewees are called in 3 or 4 waves. They have to wait outside across the street for a turn to get in. (you have to pay to sit directly across the street you also have to pay to park , hell you can even pay the guards to give you a heads up so you can get jump in line before they call the folks to line up to go in.) I digress.

It is true the visa lottery has a priority and the backlog worsens during this predictable period. Also alarming is the number of return visits applicants are making to address the requests of the embassy. These return visits get scheduled during the interview or upon showing up during inquiry proving they have met some additional request. These on the spot re-interviews are possibly taking up slots for awaiting I130 cases. If they could tell you one time everything instead of piece mill they possibly could shed 25% of the workload or rework load.

Anyhoo, it is hard to care about an embassy's workload when you have been waiting for over a year for your family to be reunited, right?

The Lagos embassy processing is slower than we all like. Maybe with your congressional inquiry they can find a solution for them and us.
