In the form DS 157, question 17 it says " LIST ALL EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS YOU ATTENDED. INCLUDE VOCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS ...."

So im wondering ... should i include High school and University, as well as the Spanish course i took ???

Thank you for all your help

You don't need to include high school, and if you were formally enrolled in an educational institution to take that Spanish class, then you should include it. If the Spanish class was just a local non-accredited course then you can safely omit it.

How does a request to list ALL educational institutions exclude high school? If someone did not go to college would they leave it blank.

List ALL means LIST ALL. You can abbreviate the address to city and country but you should list ALL educational institutions.

If anyone can point out where it says in the instructions that "list all" means "list all except..." please do so and I shall admit to my error. If the answer is "Well, I didn't list them and I got my visa from the __________ consulate", then say so and the OP can decide accordingly. If your reason for omission is to save ink and a few minutes filling out the form....don't.

I stand corrected. The instructions are here:

http://travel.state.gov/pdf/SIV-Iraqi-USG-Guidelines-and-DS-157-Instructions-English.pdf .

I misread "List the names and addresses of all the educational institutions you attended after elementary school" as "....after primary school."

Many thanks for the correction Gary.

Vika went all the way back to grade school. We had no problems or questions in the process.

Kiev uses the DS 157 ONLY for male applicants over age 17. Why did Vika fill one out? Alla and Pasha did not. Only Sergey had to have one. I suppose there is no penalty for facetious form filling out.

The OP is from Macedonia and I do not know which consulate they use. I doubt it is Kiev.

I have no doubt you are right. I don't remember where honestly, but I do remember the huge pain she had listing the dates and institutions. Thanks for the catch

Just an aside Gary, but how many hours a day on average are you on vj? You have a load of knowledge about the process, but sheesh! Given what you tell us about how full your life is, when do you sleep?

I am on VJ very little, probably less than 1 hour most days. I only work 20-25 hours per week. Although I have been known to walk away and leave my computer on VJ for up to days at a time. When I turn it back on I am on VJ! I do not know if it shows up that way. I also sleep usually less than 6 hours per day (night) That's just me.

I have no dount it would be easy to make the mistake and fill out the form for a woman in Kiev, particularly since most consulates DO use that form for all appicants. We never received the packet 3 so I ended up downloading the forms we needed. I believe, but could be wrong, that the consulate includes that form in packet 3 which is sent to everyone applying for a visa so one could easily assume they need it and there would be no harm in filling it out.

Kiev also does not use the DS 230 form for K-1s while most consulates do.
