Thanks Tuan.. My parents are currently retired so I'm not gonna ask them for cosponser. My brother works at samsung so I know he can cosponser for me. And he has agreed to already. Cosponser does not have to live in the same house do they? I also have my car and my motorcycle. Is it worth putting that in as assets?

The process for a K1 visa is only two months shorter than the CR1 visa.

If you have time, the CR1 is a better process because you won't have to deal with much more paper work when she gets here.

Just have to Adjust of Status to a 10 year green card when she arrived.

With the K1, it will cost more overall too. More paper work when she arrived too.

The BIG difference in TIME is the time it takes to get a the ORIGINAL marriage certificate in Vietnam for a CR1.

Once you have that, you can file for the CR1. You can't file for a CR1 without the marriage certificate.

If I were you, I followed the CR1 route giving the INCOME red flag.

Yes, Co-sponsor doesn't need to live in the same house.

I'm going with the CR-1 since it's less paperwork. Status adjustment is already done when she gets here. I like that!

I already aware about the marriage certificate. Thanks!

Here is perfect example why don't assume pink slip on desk = visa.

My friend wife went to the interview and saw the pink slip yesterday.

She answered all the questions correctly and then the last question came.

"Did your husband sponsor his previous wife from Vietnam?"...she answered "Yes".

As the vietnamese translator pulled the pink slip out to hand to my friend's wife, the CO stopped her.

The CO gave my friend's wife a white slip asking for the 10 years timeline and info on his ex (this was a guy who thought the lawyer was GOD and perform miracle).

I expect a phone call from him soon. Anyways, the wife saw the pink slip the whole time the interview was going on!

how long was the first marriage, and how long ago was it in comparison to this one? if you've failed at one VN marriage, would you be so optimistic to jump into another? i'm surprised it wasn't more of a red flag.

The first marriage lasted 4 years...it was a K-1 route I think.

That was happen over 6 years ago.

I hate to say this, but the first girl was not someone he should have married.

I introduce the second wife to him. It was my wife cousin. He is a good (gullible) man.

I was told I need to go get a certificate saying that my status is single... Is this true? I have my finalized divorced paper work. I thought the court divorce paper will be good enough

You will need more than just your divorce decree, i posted a sample of my single status paperwork here.

Wow thanks Dan...

My aunt who is visiting just told me the same. Next week I'm going out to take care of all of this... Thanks a bunch!

Good luck, and like I said in the other thread, make sure everything in the single status package is complete and correct. They can be very picky and can delay or deny or the smallest item, sometimes, it's not even really wrong, just not the way they want it.

Hey guys where exactly do I go to get the papers signed by the state secretary? My attorney wants $300 to do it but I'd rather do it myself to save $300 since it's a lot easier to do than the CR-1 itself.. Thanks!!
