I agree on this comment 100%!

When you post yourself here as the USCIS customer service you have to be ready and welcome all question and comments, weather it is good or you may find it irritating. Blocking users from your thread shows your bad character as a customer service...If you cant stand post something like this, don't flaunt yourself here as the "customer service" cos apparently you dont know the real essence of being a customer service!

I'm not a site administrator and do not have the ability to block anyone from a thread. If you have a problem with someone being blocked, contact someone that can actually do that.

I've resigned my position at NCSC effective today (07/11/2011).

I've just received a call from the superintendent of my local school district and have been offered a teaching position :D . That's a much more rewarding profession than...reading scripted responses and being cursed at by crude people that think I'm able to help them when really, I can't. I wanted to help while with NCSC, but it's impossible. It's purpose is for GENERAL information. If you're seeking more than GENERAL information, yes you will be sorely disappointed when you call customer service.

With that being said, best of luck to all of you with whatever process you're going through. I hope USCIS is kind to each and everyone of you.

Good for you!

I'm pretty astonished by some of the trolls on this thread - not sure what they were expecting from it at all.

Congratulations on your new - and more satisfying and rewarding - job, Lesigh.

We very much appreciated your generosity and kindness in sharing your knowledge about this level of service with us - even if some were dissatisfied with the answers - and for selfish reasons, are sorry to see you go :P. Seriously, though, good luck to you in your new job and thank you once again :).

To dragonlover, for your information, Lesigh had nothing to do with blocking members from this thread. She is not able to do so nor do I think she would do so. The two members who were thread-banned from participating in this thread were thread banned by a moderator who reviewed their posts and found them disruptive and inappropriate to this discussion. This review was in response to a report made to the moderation team from another VJ member - not Lesigh - who also found their posts inappropriate and disruptive. So, please do not castigate a Visa Journey member for moderator actions over which they have no control. Your comments were also inappropriate.

Wait Wait - new question !!

Why are the approved I-130 petitions from June still held in the CSC building, not sent out to NVC ?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Congratulations on your approval ! We All Applaud your accomplishment with Most Wonderful Kissies !

Lesigh,

I hope you are fairing very well in your new position.

If you are still able to answer a question or two, I have some things I am curious about.

1.) How many of y'all are bilingual? Is there a high percentage of non-English-speaking callers?

2.) This seems to the only "everything on paper" process in my life that still exists. I do understand that computer access and ability varies to both extremes of the spectrum, but it seems that more of this could be automated. Is there little to no online communication with records for things like ID's, passports, military records, birth certificates, etc. with domestic resources?

3.) What is the turnover rate for being a call center employee?

4.) Do you know if there are quality control employees who actually call on private lines to verify any quality? (I needed to call once with a question I couldn't find online. The automated system disconnected me several times before I was actually transferred. I'm hoping it was just a glitch in the system THAT day. After I got the human, she was very pleasant and I got the answer I needed.)

5.) Was it easy or welcome for y'all to report problems or suggestions or was there a method for doing that?

Thanks again. The folks here that are poo-pooing everything need to get a grip. I can't imagine what they are expecting you to do--leap tall buildings in a single bound, perhaps. ;)

The OP is no longer in a position to answer and hasn't been back since July 15. Perhaps a VJ Moderator should close this thread.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

This combination seems to work:

1. Call 1 800 375 5283 Listen for the instructions and at the appropriate times,

2. Punch "1" for English,

3. Punch "2" for I Have a Question for an Application I Have Filed",

4. Punch "3" for "I Don't Know the Receipt Number"

That should put you in touch with a call center employee. Please remember these are not immigration officers. They have no more information available to them than you have yourself on the USCIS Status Update site. They work from prepared general scripts and are not set up to address issues/situations outside of those scripts. They cannot access your file. They do not know anything more than you do in your file. They can, under the right circumstances, forward your call to an Immigration Officer but it has to be for something that they specifically cannot answer and for which there does not seem to be a scripted response. They can also submit a 'service request' to an immigration officer on your behalf , especially if your wait time is outside of normal processing time. They cannot provide you with any information about what is happening at a Consulate as Consulates are under the Department of State, not USCIS.

Please also remember not to follow or trust any 'advice' given to you by the Immigration Help Line about what you should do until you check it out and obtain confirmed written verification from the USCIS website that it is the correct information, or have run it by members of Visa Journey to verify. The information line is also known as the Mis-Information Line and has been responsible for several tragic situations when they have given out wrong and/or illegal advice and people have acted upon it.

I am now closing this thread to further discussion as Lesigh has moved on and is no longer in a position to assist with information.
