Am I wrong?

If 320,000 people showed up to vote, divide that number by N where N < 700,000.

Alaska's total population is 700,000 people. That's everyone,...kids and adults. Now if 320,000 of those people actually voted then I'm Howard Hughes.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Ya, and bears shouldn't eat people but they do. It's how it is up here and I don't see it changing anytime soon. It is the way it is.

In a democracy, votes matter more than whining about things. Maybe you're mistaken in thinking Alaska isn't part of a democracy? Don't whine if you are not going to act by voting. Being a criminal isn't how something shouldn't be- its something that is done and chosen to be done at that. Deal with it.

It seems then, with this information, that Alaska needs to reform its electoral process to better preserve Alaskans' democratic rights.

If they bother to vote, I mean.

Nothing is easy there. If I lived in a small village like Hoonah, for example, I have to travel elsewhere to vote. Hell, I have to travel elsewhere to do just about anything. But, I make my living fishing in the area and my license allows me to fish only when the state opens the season. Am I going to fish or vote? I'm going to fish; my family depends on it.

If I'm a non-resident running a tourist store in Juneau, I can vote coz I'm in a town where it's easy, I'm already there and no one makes me prove I'm a resident.

That's the guy who's overwhelmingly represented in the stats. And Hoonah is representative of how people really live there.

Everyone, including part-time residents. As long as they're legally eligible to vote, you have nothing to whine about.

Have the intelligence to participate in early voting or vote by mail if its available. If you are legally permitted to vote as a part-time resident, and you don't like it- take it up with the Alaska legislature.

Didn't you claim on here that you live in Chicago ? I'm pretty sure that's the same city that counts dead peoples votes aka Mayor Daily.

I don't know, but WhyMe's statement that most Alaskans don't vote is simply not true.

Are those stats registered voters, or citizens of voting age? The county I live in has 90% plus turn-out in presidential years, but most of the hippies are not even registered.

Think of Alaska as being more like Afghanistan than L.A. The very physical lifestyle of the typical Alaskan, the remote locations of people working on oil rigs, fishing villages, hunting trips out on the tundra or in the mountains, being on boats instead of near voting booths and answering polls on their home phones skews the information substantially.

He's not mayor any more- and that would be assuming you have verifiable proof such is a regular phenomenon somehow relevant to this topic, champ.
