Yes, when I worked for the AK Dept. of Fish and Game, a lot of the job consisted of investigating residency fraud. A lot of voters don't live there, they just pretend to to get the goodies and probably vote in both Alaska and where they live.

Speaking of the Dept. of Fish and Game...we called them I don't know how many times to complain about all the bear at the landfill (dump) here and they did zero. So me and the landfill guy got a fifth of cuervo and a case of beer and waited for them around midnight. We killed three of them (shot one from inside the truck), and burned them in the fire pit at the dump. That's how we handle it here.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Well, no. The state doesn't even know who really lives there. Between valuable fishing licenses and distribution of the permanent fund, there's lots of residency fraud.

Wouldn't that imply that the turnout is actually *higher*? You can't show up to vote if you don't live there.

Alaska is one of those places where you can show up and say "I'm a journalist" or "I'm a teacher" and they'll let you do it without much effort to prove that you are what you say you are. That's how I got to be a school teacher

Speaking of teachers, this happened last year. Chignik Bay is maybe a 15 min. plane ride from here if that. Teachers here face other dangers than just bad kids. lol

Wolves kill teacher in Alaska

Villagers in Chignik Lake on the Alaska Peninsula take precautions after the first known fatal wolf attack in U.S. in modern times.

Yes that's what they are saying.

Basically, we are supposed to believe their anecdotes over the State's data.

Anecdotes from many fraudsters we are asked to trust.

I'm not familiar with voting in the US, but isn't there a count? Are people saying that that information is fabricated?

We're saying it's not accurate because it's not. One thing you have to understand about AK is that most of the people there don't live there. They come up for part of the year to fish, guide, work the tourist trade, then leave for their official residences, even out of the country. When the season is over, downtown shops close and much of the town is empty, but the real residents are still there. Most of the money goes south with transients who have their opinions and even vote, but they aren't Alaskans. That's why the information you get is inaccurate.

Yea, but they get the highest pay and the best housing in the villages for free. The ones who get eaten just open up an opportunity for another teacher who's waiting with baited breath for the free housing. I don't feel sorry for them :hehe:

It seems then, with this information, that Alaska needs to reform its electoral process to better preserve Alaskans' democratic rights.

If they bother to vote, I mean.

If what Sofi says is true, then it would seem that so many years after buying Alaska from the Russians, they still act like a bunch of Soviets.

Lots of bigots back in Soviet Russia too.

Ya, and bears shouldn't eat people but they do. It's how it is up here and I don't see it changing anytime soon. It is the way it is.
