It's pretty much 50-50 as far as that goes. But as far as your lib attitude, they would tell you to your face to shove it up here. Seriously. And I'm not talking about just the guys...but the women. They would listen to your ultra lib ####### for about min. max before they told you to take a hike...and they would mean it.

Alaska's not NY, not even close. It's hard to imagine how different it is if you've never lived there, but gayness is not going to be near the top of most Alaskans' list of things to be PC about. In fact, PC isn't on their lists.

I saw the numbers the other way around- 2000 census, 107 males per 100 females.

It's not a glamorous place. I put away my fancy clothes when I came back from an assignment. High heels and skirts aren't much use there. That takes a lot of the fun out of it for a lot of women. My best friend there was a stay at home mom who dressed to the what would be the nines there. Always in a skirt, made up and coiffed.

That works if you stay home, but it's so unusual on the streets that when we went to the mall to vote in the state elections, she was turned away because the officials didn't believe she really lived in Juneau, and they told her it was because of how she was dressed.

Seriously. Alaska's not for girly men or girly girls.

Not even. Why do you think I shopped out this time. Any chicks up here that are even half way decent are high maintenance and the chances of landing one are slim to none...unless you got a bag full of coke and/or loaded with money. It's mainly about survival here...it's not like we are keeping up on the trends.

When Minnesota is growing apples in the spring, we still have snow and our bay is still froze over. People that have never lived here don't have a clue and most likely never will. I read about Pit Bulls attacking peeps in the lower 48, yet I shot two brown bears here in town since I moved here. I had a sow and cubs walk through my yard on almost a daily basis last summer on their way to the beach for the salmon run.
