This should probably be moved to the UK forum where you would get a more specific answer.

But the short answer to your question is that the US does not allow dual citizenship with any country. However, you need to understand what that means as it is often misunderstood by many people. Dual citizenship is when you have one passport with two nationalities and both countries recognize you as a citizen of both countries. This is actually rather rare and only allowed by a small number of pairs of countries.

However, people can have two citizenships. My son has both Russian and US citizenship. He was born in the US to a USC father so he got US citizenship at birth. His mother is an RF citizen so we were able to get RF citizenship for him at the RF consulate. Most countries allow for the children of their citizens to obtain citizenship even when born abroad but the process for this varies from country to country. Two citizenships is different from dual citizenship because a government considers you solely its citizen.

I am assuming that your child was born with a US birth certificate. You will need to contact the UK embassy or consulate and determine what their process for getting UK citizenship for a foreign born child of a UK citizen is. Some countries require certain steps to be taken as far as forsaking other citizenships when obtaining citizenship but this typically doesn't apply to children and probably doesn't apply to the UK and US since relations are rather friendly.

Someone in the UK forum may be able to give you a better answer specific to the UK and may have firsthand knowledge.

If British law on citizenship is analogous to Canada's, then yes (edit: in the case of Canada, it only applies to the first generation born abroad).
