Greetings everyone,

I am new to these forums, My fiancee and I just submitted our application through a website called easyfiacnceevisa.com around april and found out our application was being processed at Vermont center "hopefully we don't get the bad luck of being delayed" Even though we are from 2 separate cultures , her family and mine. "My parents being Catholics and her family being Muslim ... well her grandparents. So we decided to have a neutral spiritual wedding and also decided to be agnostic. I am hoping being prior military and having a Military Clearance with already heavy back ground checks, that this will not cause any delays, also having a long history of being with each other physically and communication wise that our process will not be delayed. Now we just have to wait for the visa to get finally approved and finally move into our brand new home we just purchased.. we are so impatient .. all this waiting is almost driving us crazy.

Your Muslim fiancee is ok with becoming agnostic for you?

Good luck with your interview.

I think he didn't want to be rude at you, he was just asking, as far as we all know muslim is a "strong" religion, but you're right love conquers all.

As for your prior military, sadly it doesn't speed things :( . My hubby-to-be is an Army Veteran, and he's actually working for federal government, and we are now over the 3 month mark

Best wishes for you anyways!

My husband and I come from totally different religious backgrounds too, but we have similar religious views.. In my K-1 interview, I was asked a brief question in my interview about how I feel about my husband's (then-fiance) religious views, and I answered that him and I have the same religious views and he respects my family's and I respect his family's... The interview went very smooth, and it was an overall positive experience...

You and your fiancee should have nothing to worry about... Perhaps, you two could get letters from family members showing their support and approval of your relationship.. Make sure she has a lot of pictures of you and her with family members and friends to present at the interview stage.. In most cases the CO doesn't really look at evidence presented at the interview other than pictures... But, it wouldn't hurt to be extra prepared.. :)

Good luck!

I was hoping the same thing prior to filing. I work for the federal government and have a top secret security clearance, but I'm not sure that mattered as far as the speed of processing the petition. I would imagine, though, that it would help avoid delays from having to undergo additional background checks like people have said can happen. I hope all goes well. Good luck!!

Believe me, I am one of those people. When it comes to a woman from a Muslim family marrying outside of her religion, COs at consulates generally do not think outside the box. You didn't mention before that she would be interviewing in France. If you had, I wouldn't have commented at all. Seeing the Moroccan flag beneath your name implied to me that she'd interview in Casablanca. There, your non Muslim faith would be an issue during an interview. A big one.

Since you say she's interviewing in France, it's probably a non issue, and I very sincerely wish you luck.

Thanks for jumping on me and getting all defensive :D Gives me a rush.
