hey everyone,

ill try and make this short and easy.

me and my fiance are filing for the k-1 visa, we are just currently filling out all the forms to get ready to start filing for it. Im the beneficiary living in canada and my fiance is living in the U.S. Now my question that we are having difficulty with is the:

"Part B, Information About our Alien Fiance"

question #11

Has your fiance ever been to the U.S?

He or she last arrived in the U.S as a:(visitor, exchange alien, crewman, stowaway..etc..)

We are having difficulty with this question because ive never really been to the U.S before other then once as a child. But the very first and last time I went to go visit my fiance in the U.S I was actually "red flagged" at the border at the airport for having to much luggage making me look suspicious for a visit(this is now why my fiance from the U.S has to be the one to visit me every time). The immigration officer while in the interrogation room said i was "Technically" in the U.S as we were having the interogation and i had to be escorted off the airport for it. Im not sure how I answer this question 11. Do i say I was in the U.S? or no because I was only at the airport?..if I do have to answer question 11 with a yes i have been to the U.S, then what do I say I last arrived as then? im sorry if this question is hard to understand, I really tried to narrow it down as easy and simple as possible and i would greatly appreciate it if I could get some answers!!! also, being red flagged, will I have to do anything extra or have issues with my k-1 visa or crossing the border if i do end up getting approved? thanks!!!!

I would answer as honestly and completely as you can.

Say that you had been there once as a child on a visit (or whyever you were there) and then explain the situation at the airport the way you explained it to us. Be thorough and don't give them reason to think you are hiding anything. If you were not trying to immigrate but just had a lot of luggage, you weren't doing anything wrong.

I would think you would put "visitor" here in either case, since you were intending to visit the time you were stopped.

Attach a separate piece of paper for the all details if you need to.
