Hello I am from the philippines and my Fiance is from florida, his income does not meet the requirement for K1 visa so he used his uncle to be his co -sponsor who had been his guardian since his mom died. i have all the papers and all the documents needed. I am just scared that I might get denied, also my fiance included all his letters from school that he got a scholarship. He is entering in a university. please help me out on this. I just heard that US embassy in manila does not accept co - sponsors. My interview is this monday and I can't focus because of this problem.

That's the first I've heard of the Manila embassy not accepting co-sponsors. That's kind of the whole point of a co-sponsor, to make up for the lack of income of the petitioner.

I don't mean to be rude, but are you going to post this at the end of every other post in the forum? You can start a new topic, preferably in the Philippines section of this forum, here:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/129-philippines/

but I'd be shocked if it was a problem at all.

duplicate topics merged - the first one is out of order as it was split from a duplicate to this one.

Hi. Is your fiance a student? COz if that's the case we have the same situation. My fiance is in his Masters Program so he did not meet the required income so we ask for his mom as our co-sponsor but sadly during our interview last May 19 the consul told us that they wont accept co-sponsor in K1 visa. The good thing is that we have all his papers as student so we provided a financial aid letter, a scholarship letter, grant applicantion letter and an employment letter coz he works as part time research contractor and bank statements. Also in his I-134 we include his financial award and scholarship as his income and we were approve. I hope this help :)

Search the forums here, particularly the Philippines forum. There is a lot of discussion on co-sponsers and Manila.

Not having sufficient income and using a co-sponser is a problem with K'1s in Manila, most are denied.

I assume your fiance is a full time student? This a very tough case unless he can prove he has assets to support you in the USA.

Dont mean to be harsh, but maybe you should wait a bit until he finish's School?

Best of luck

The US Embassy in Manila does not accept co-sponsors for K-1 Visa applications. I know some cases they make exceptions but the petitioner still has to fill out I-134. Just have your fiance sill it out, and then have another one for back up with his uncle's income just incase they do allow it in your case. I know for K-1 visa, the income requirement is at least 100% above the poverty guideline, this guideline should be in the USCIS website.
