This is an interesting thread. Can someone clarify?

Mew,

Name one.

.... just be sure and check with the embassy you're going through to be sure I-134 they ask for. Most embassies do, but there are exceptions.

I thought Chris and Mariana had a whole thread about it? They were referring to a K3 interview in Venezuela, where they'd have to use I-864 instead of I-134. Maybe I'm mistaken. And I was under the impression that for K interviews, I-134 was the form required. So... I don't know.

Mew,

You're not mistaken that they reported getting an answer to their question that they needed I-864. (I think we're talking about the same poster, and I thought you might reference that.) But what they posted is different from what others have previously reported as their experience in Venezuela. So it will be interesting to learn what they report back after the interview - especially if they challenge what they were told ahead of time, submit I-134, and are told 'no, give us I-864'.

Then I'll be happy to stop asking the question.

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.

William,

An item of VJ legend, passed down from generation to generation (a VJ generation is about the same as a fruit fly generation, much shorter than a human generaton), is that some IV-issuing posts insist on I-864 for K visas. To my knowledge no one has yet to identify such a post, however. In response to my question 1 or 2 years back two VJers identified a post (I forget which one now) that said it would accept either I-134 or I-864, but both of those VJers had used I-134 confirming that that was not the mystery post that requires I-864.

A few years ago there was an extremely knowledgeable VJer, Andy, who told me in private that he knew of such a post but could not reveal his source of the knowledge publicly. That's the closest I've come to an answer to my question.

If you come across a post that refuses I-134 for a K visa, insisting instead on the I-864, please let us know.
