So you hired a lawyer but you still have to ask us what to bring to the interview? I'm not quite sure why people need lawyers anyways. It's just a bunch of documents one has to file accordingly. If you can read and understand English, filing forms isn't too hard. I did it without a lawyer. Funny thing is, I've seen couples get their cases screwed up because of lawyers. But anyways, just try to relax for the interview.

The officer will usually make his/her decision within the first few minutes believe it or not.

If you have all your evidence in order, and you truly have a bonafide marriage (which it sounds like you do :) ) you won't have any problems. I know it's nerve wracking, I made myself sick before our interview. They really aren't out to trick you or try to mess you up or anything like that. They really only start asking hard questions if they suspect there is fraud going on, and in this case I don't think you have anything to worry about. ;)

FWIW, our IO really seemed to like our photo album at AOS. I don't think we would have had problems anyway, but it definitely cinched the deal. :) Good luck!

@ronron Hi there!! I m not sure how can i post my timeline, when i go to timeline it s not showing me the dates when everything happened, just the events say " biometrics appointment", Interview etc.

But feel free to send me a pvt message and I ll answer your questions :)

@mystickcal, well I think to have a lawyer or not is a personal decision, I know many people feel they don t need one and that s perfectly fine.

I felt I was gonna feel better having one and that s why my husband and I hired her.

Thanks trillium for your answer!!

I had my interview today and the officer made it kinda hard because we have a lot of age difference,he asked as a few questions like how we met, when, for long we dated, etc, he also asked me those questions like " have u ever been convicted, etc etc etc? which all answers were NO and then in the end he asked my husband to leave the room and asked me how we celebrated my last b day,etc and then made him come back to see if his answers would match, thanks god they did, gosh I was so nervous!!, I knew it was gonna be a bit harder because of that because they tend to suspect it s an arranged marriage or something but my lawyer said she thinks we ll be allright.

One thing I noticed and I ve heard here before that s a good sign is that he took my I94 from my passport, does that mean I wont need it next time I leave the country ( in case my green card is granted) ??

If anybody knows if that s a good sign or not please let me know, I didn t ask my lawyer about that cause I didn t even realized he took the I94 card til later when we were in the car...

I will let u guys know when I get an answer, I hope I get one in a couple weeks, I hate waiting and not knowing what s gonna happen,

Good sign is if your passport get stamped with red ink (I-551) indicating conditional permanent residency. Another good sign was if you had to sign a letter granting you conditional permanent residency.

Did you not get the passport back?

I had my interview a week ago. At the end, the officer gave me and my wife a letter and stamped my passport. She did, however, take away my ead card and i-94 tabs.

Oh my goodness! I just got an e mail from immigration and checked my receipt case number in there and it says my card is in production!! I want to believe that s good news right??

I suppose if they needed more evidence they would have said something on that e mail...

My lawyer said to wait til i get a letter on the mail to be 100 % sure cause they usually don t make decisions this fast, we ll see!! We gotta pray for the best!

I have a interview coming up next month. One of the problems I have is that I am unable to add my spouse to the lease agreement. They want my spouse's proof of legal residency (green card) for them to formally add my spouse to the lease. How often does the IO ask for this document? How important is this document for the interview?

Thank you for the feedback.

Hi there SL,

I m not sure how important its or how often they ask for it...

In my case, I was missing some papers and I still got a notice saying my card was in production today so... it depends a lot on the officer too.

This s like a lottery, look the guy who interviewed me and my husband made the interview pretty hard but now that i got this notification i feel wayyy better.

U should tell the place where you live that u need her to be on the lease, its for immigration purposes, u should push them a bit, tell them your wife might be in trouble if they don t let you add her on the lease...

I hope this helps a bit but again every interview and officer is different, try to get as many papers you can.

Yes that's great news! Congratulations!

As far as taking things/stamping your passport, every office is different. Our IO didn't take anything from us, and our passport wasn't stamped, but he told us we were approved right then. Some places don't even do the stamp anymore so that's nothing to worry about.

If you can't get them to add your spouse, try to get a letter from them stating why they won't add her. Is it a big apartment complex or a private landlord? The IO's in the AOS process know it can be hard to get certain types of evidence before you have the GC. You do what you can. At least if you have a letter from your landlord stating why they won't add your spouse, the IO knows you've tried.

It's a big apartment complex and it's a no-go on the letter. :(

Absolutely no need. I didn't take it. No questions (though I was approved without interview)

Guys I m so happy! I checked the USCIS site and it says the card is in production as well!

Can t wait til i get it!!

Yeah the hartford office never tells u right away ( i wish they did) but it was super fast!! some people wait even a month to get a response, that s crazy!

I suppose if u do the AOS coming with a K 1 visa is different and something u don t need an interview, but I came here as an student ( F1) and ended up marrying my love so... every case is different.

I hope i don t have to worry about paperwork for 2 more yrs, then i ll have to take the conditions but I m good to go til then.

I ll post again when I get the card :)
