i just want to ask, can i do the medical exam in st lukes first, eventhough the visa is not paid yet? i'd like to pay the visa and schedule the interview after the medical exam. and also, for paying the visa fees, is there a certain BPI branch that you can go to pay the visa or all BPI branches accept the visa payment? and last lastly, for interview in US embassy, do i need to bring all of the copies (I-129F package) that my fiance sent to the US immigration? thank you!!

as far as I know, and others can correct me, It is not wise to do medical before having approval. Just wait until approval, then schedule appointment, then do medical. You need an appointment letter, or NOA2 or something to show you are going to interview. You cannot schedule until the manila embasy has your applicaiton and file number. (aka a file number from NVC)

K-1 Visa Timeline:

02/18/2011 - Engagement party with relatives - propose in Visayan.

Here's another "as far as I know" answer...

I would think that you can have the medical before scheduling your interview as long as it's not too far away from your interview date...and by far away, I mean months. I think I have read about people doing that here on VJ.

When I helped my fiancee fill out her online St. Luke's application (which you should do, it will save her time when she gets there, plus she will go ahead of those filling out the forms,) I think it asked when the interview date was.

I'm pretty sure you don't have to pay the visa application fee prior to getting the medical.

Anyone reading, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Hope this helped some.

Another thing...when you schedule your interview, it is probably going to be around a month or so away from the date you schedule.

You could get your medical right after you schedule the interview, I would think that would give you enough time in case you have to go back to SL.

Any BPI can do the transaction.

Yes, take the I-129F that was sent to you...plus all of your evidence and requested forms and documents.

Good Luck to you!

Yes, you can complete your medical before you schedule your interview.

You do not need to pay the visa fee before you complete your medical.

Most branches of BPI will accept your visa payment.

Just to play it safe, it's a good idea to go to your interview with the same information that your fiancé submitted to the USCIS. The consular officer can ask for anything, even the original receipts.

Good luck with your medical. :star:

The one thing I do know is st. lukes asks when your interview is. they also want your manila file number so the medical can be matched up to your case in the embassy. Also, if there are problems with your medical, st. lukes moves or re-schedules your interview date for you. You can do it either way. However, doing it before scheduling the interview gives more chance of hte medical being more intensive, or the possibility of being lost. There is also a chance (slim) they might tell you to come once you have scheduled. However, not heard of st. lukes refusing a medical if there is a manila case number. The only problem I see with what you are doing is dragging out hte process longer. the more days you wait, the longer to your interview. Also, you ARE on a timeclock to get the interview done. If you go beyond the approved time, only the embassy can decide to grant you more time or not. None of us here can tell you if waiting is a good thing or bad thing. Just know you have a clock ticking for hte interview to be completed.... that clock is 4 months, and right now it takes 2 months on average to get an appointment. Since we do not know your time, only you can know what is proper. All I can say is if you have all of the paperwork, at least one month, quite possibly two months must have already passed since NOA2. the scheduling of the appointment is most important now. St. lukes will move your appointment if there are problems.

OK...where do I even start with this mess...

You don't need an MNL case number to do your medical.

The only problem I see with what you are doing is dragging out hte process longer. the more days you wait, the longer to your interview. Also, you ARE on a timeclock to get the interview done. If you go beyond the approved time, only the embassy can decide to grant you more time or not.

The Embassy routinely grants four-month extensions.

Having an early medical is a good thing, especially for those who have to undergo an eight-week TB culture.

St. lukes will move your appointment if there are problems.

Nope, not any more. Now you do it yourself.
