Some don't distinguish between "Fiancé" and "Fiancée". And as you should know very well, it is common to intermix "he" & "she" when Pilipinos speak, lol.

I thought *he/she* is the USC from the post.

do trivial things really matter? My betrothed is important to me. Making her happy is what matters. To those on this thread, we are discussing why we should or should be with our betrothed on their interview day at the embassy. Should we or should we not go there. For me, I am going to be with my betrothed to assist her in the process. Calm her nerves, let her know she is important to me, that nothing is more important then what she is going through right at this present time and moment. Those 5 minutes decide To me, nothing is more important. It was something my dad taught me. When my mom was in an accident, his FIRST concern was her, Second was the kids, Third was the other people, THEN and ONLY then did he worry about the car. Every single time something happened, Mom was number 1, then us kids. Later on in life, My Grandmother became sick (she hid it for a long time, but eventually it was found out.) My grandfather spared no expense to help her. My grandfather found out where to go, what to do, and took her wherever in the world they had to go. It was a valuable lesson to learn. Value what cannot be placed, treasure moments with your TREASURE. Jobs come and go, Money can be made, bills come and go, cars are replaced every so often, furniture is something you enjoy for a while, then replace or recover. Look to your heart to find your Treasure, what you Treasure most is what you WILL spend the most time and money on. For me, my Treasure is my betrothed.

the hard part I think on here is a struggle with responsibility to our partner in life, with responsibility to commitments we have. Resolving the inner conflict on what we should do, while looking at what others feel we must do, and resolving with what we are able to do.

Chrism -- Hi and welcome to Visa Journey. I am, RK, the USC petitioner of my fiancee and I have wondered the same questions myself. Markieboy, Tahoma, Darren and the others have summed up the considerations well. As for me, although I know being present at time of interview may either not make a difference at all or may make a difference in some way small or large, my largest consideration is my fiancee, Inday. If I can be present during her interview, or during the time of her interview, I would very much like to do so if for the only reason is to show her my love and support. Yes, costs and other factors (such as those intangible values, the Treasures) must indeed all be considered and weighed. You know your own situation best and your spouse better than anyone. Whatever you decide, wishing you the best on your continuing visa journey and please keep us posted.

Best Regards,

RK

Hi everyone. We are still in the early stages of getting my wife here CR1.As most already know this is very hard being far apart.

I have 2 weeks vacation left this year,i was going to fly out for her medical and interview. Then fly back a couple of weeks later after she gets her visa to pick her up so she doesnt have to do an international flight alone. My question is .Is there any benefits to attending interview in Manila with her? I know she has to do interview alone but I want to be there to help ease the anxiety for her.Does it look better if I attend?

Im seriously thinking about splitting that 2 weeks vacation up so I can go visit her soon. And leave the remaining week to go pick her up.Only getting 4 weeks vacation a year and having to submit vacation requests well in advance is proving to be a problem.

Philippines is like DisneyLand for Adults

So for sure you should go to Philippines anytime you have a reason or excuse to go......

It is possible to do it all in 1 week but it doesn't leave much room for error ...

That was the deciding factor for us. You can spend $1,300 on travel from here, or you can spend twice that if you don't have enough time ahead and flexibility to get the cheaper tickets. I have my own dinky little business so the time away was no problem. Just the inability to make secure lower cost travel. Stressing out about the possibility of delay or complications too, and she needs to demonstrate this level of acumen and poise to be my permanent arm candy anyway.

She had never flown so I did go to manila and meet her after the visa was issued. Ha ha - I had to leave without her because there was a problem. She came by herself a couple weeks later.

that is the one thing I learning about tagalog, no gender... everything is neuter.... maybe that is why some of the boys (and girls) get confused as to who they should date... just a speculation....and my own opinion.... it just sometimes drives me nuts trying to figure out the meanings.... pronouns are just not used much. "Lip pointing" does most of it.....

We had always planned to spend xmas together so I purposely scheduled my interview dec 20th so that he could be there. I know I would've been fine all by myself though but him being there certainly helped calm my nerves. I left a month later from him though because our wedding was still set for April and I wanted to have lots of time left on my I-94 so I could file AOS within the 90 day window, and I had tons of wedding stuff to plan. I can't believe that was months ago already!

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Thank you, VJ! smile.png

LOL, I hear you, Darren! I don't think I have EVER met a woman in the world who can express so much by just moving her lips! I am still learning to understand it, but those lips can "speak" volumes without saying a word, eh?
