Just filed an I-130 for my Thai wife on June 9, 2011 at the USCIS office, Bangkok. Haven't heard anything yet, but will post as soon as I do. I wish I had found this forum earlier as I had no idea a cover letter should have accompanied the petition. Anyone else have any experience with DCF in Bangkok?

We did. Most people that file through USCIS Bangkok have heard back in 2 - 4 weeks.

My husband filed I-130 on 1st of April. And we got the letter from USCIS that require more evidence (he forgot to give them photos when he filed the I-130). I sent photos on 3rd of May and we received Notice of Approval on 30th of May.

I just sent package 3 to the Embassy, am waiting for the interview date now.

Good luck for your case. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Cheers,

Well it's been 5 weeks and 1 day and still nothing, but whose counting. I know it could take awhile more (this waiting and uncertainty stinks as most of you know), but I'm curious as to how the USCIS in Copenhagen can approve an I-130 on the spot, not just once but twice per recent DCF postings. Anyone know what the USCIS actually does with an I-130 after they accept the petition and how an approval in Thailand can take over 5 weeks and Copenhagen one day?

By the way, this past March I was approved for the Global Entry Trusted Traveler Network by the U.S. Customs and Boarder Protection agency of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, which I had hoped would facilitate my I-130 approval; I guess I was wrong.

Hey Dan I think something might be up. We sent ours in June 3 and a response (NOA 1) June 7th, and got NOA 2 June 9. Lost in the mail maybe? Did you send an e-mail or give a call. Although the call is not very helpful because the lady there is not friendly, refuses to look anything up, and will just tell you it can take up to 90 days.

I can't believe it, the I-130 USCIS Approval letter came today. The Notice was dated July 7 (USCIS processing 28 days), but wasn't put into the Thailand Post until July 12 according to the postmark. Luckily my wife has a friend in the Thailand Post and somehow she got it for us today even though the Post was closed.

Congratulations! Your wife will get letter for Package 3 and case number in a few days (mine was 3 days after I-130's approval). I've known my interview date already, it's 11 weeks after submitting package 3.

Good luck :)

Yesterday my wife had her interview and it went fairly smooth with easy questions about how we met, where will we live in US, when do we plan to go, etc. She knew all the answers really well as we rehearsed as has been advised by so many on this site. But then the Consular asked for proof of domicile in California, where we intend to live, and my wife said we sent a Lease, but the Consular didn't have it. It was obviously misplaced or lossed and that was one item we didn't have a copy of (my fault), so yesterday afternoon I sent it in via email and today we were told all was okay.

The window was #5 and interestingly was the same Consular (lady with long brown hair parted in the middle) that turned down my wife last December for a Visitor visa because she couldn't prove she had strong ties to Thailand insuring her return. At that interview the Consular was not helpful and not too nice, but this time she was helpful and nice. She asked if my wife wanted the interview in English or Thai and my wife said her English wasn't too good and the Consular said it sounded good to her, but when my wife didn't understand a question she repeated it in Thai, which helped immensely.

Two things I thought we would have trouble with, the Lease we signed was with my nephew, the rent was $1 month and it was a copy and not the original, which I thought they would question it being a copy and the a $1 amount, but didn't. And my wife needed to get a MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) innoculation, but a booster is required one month later and I thought at the last minute they would say that we needed to get the booster before the visa petition could be approved, but they didn't. We will get her visa Friday.

I want to thank everyone who started this website and all those who have contributed to it, we could not have done his without your help. THANK YOU!

Cheers,

Do you know if it is required to file the I-130 in person in Bangkok or can it be mailed? Also, what kind of pictures did you have to send? It doesn't ask for pictures on the instructions. I'm just wondering to avoid the delay you experienced. Thanks for you help!
