Hi everyone,

I just need some insight from you guys. I have a car loan that's not paid off yet but I'm in the process of selling the car so that I'm not in debt. If I don't manage to sell it by the time I go for my interview, will this be a cause for the visa denial? I can understand that they may view it as me abandoning my debt (though I'm really not trying to!) Also, my dad is helping out in selling the car and he will help me to sell it even after I leave.

What do you guys think? Thanks a lot of the help.

12/21/10 - USC fiance discharged from Military

01/18/11 - I-129F Sent

01/25/11 - NOA1

01/29/11 - Touched

06/08/11 - NOA2

06/17/11 - NVC case number received

06/24/11 - Petition mailed to Malaysian consulate

06/29/11 - Petition received by Malaysian consulate and mailed to beneficiary

07/04/11 - Packet 3 received!

07/22/11 - Packet 3 mailed back to US embassy

09/08/11 - Interview! Result : APPROVED!

I doubt you will get a denial because of that. If that was the case, I think many people here would get a denial because of that.

Never heard of that.

Wait a minute... you are the beneficiary, correct? I have no idea whether it affects the visa process one way or the other, but it would not surprise me if gov't's require their citizens to not have delinquent debt before allowing them to basically leave forever. Again, no clue if what I have stated is true, but it wouldn't shock me if that is the case with some governments. Then again, it has nothing to do with whether or not a consulate gives you the visa or not, and more so to do with... is your own govt going to let you just get up and go forever leaving delinquent debt behind (assuming you are delinquent).

The thing is, I really don't feel comfortable until I feel like I have covered all my bases. My best friend recently got behind some student loans and our government banned him from emigrating. That's why I thought this may be an issue.
