Hey Everyone... I have a quick questions... I have been told two different things.. about sending off packet 3

1.) All that needs to be sent off in packet 3 is the checklist

and

2.) All the forms have to be sent off with the packet 3 checklist except for the Signed Affidavit of support and proof etc..

So can someone tell me what has to be sent, I have my case number and would like to get packet 3 sent off before I receive it by mail to save time, but i'm just confused about what needs to be mailed and what just needs to be brought to the interview..

Removal of Conditions

[03-24-2014] ROC paperwork sent.

[03-25-2014] NOA1.

[04-21-2014] Biometrics

[06-17-2014] Card in production

Hi,

This is what I sent:

- Signature page for submission of photocopied documents

- Check list signature sheet

- Form DS-160 (1 copy)

- Form DS-230 part I and Part II

- Supplement DS-230 part I Question 35

- Form DS-156 (2 copies)

- DS-156K (2 copies)

See the guide, it is a really good source to gather your package.

Good luck, I know this is a really overwhelming process!

hello! just noticed that you submitted DS-160 along with the rest of packet 3 documents. Pls correct me if i'm wrong but i thought DS-160 is not for K1 applicants (done electronically) . I'm a little confused here. How about DS-157? Thanks so much in advance!yes.gif

I followed instructions for the Montreal Consulate...was received and accepted without any problems. I have copies of everything to bring to the interview...just incase. Always check your embassy's requirements before sending.

MTL Embassy requires both the DS-160 and DS-157. That however does not mean that every embassy has the same requirements. You should check on your embassy's website or ask in the Philippines sub-forum :)

Hi,

You do not need to send off what's asked for in the checklist (birth certificate etc.) It's a little confusing because one of the forms (I forget which) also asks you to attach a bunch of stuff like your birth certificate to it. You do NOT include these things in packet 3- you submit them at the interview.

This is what you send in packet 3:

Signed Checklist

DS-160 x 1

DS-156K x 1

DS-230 x 1

DS-156 x 2

To this address, with your Montreal case number on everything:

ATTN: Immigrant Visa Unit

315 Place d'Youville Suite 500

Montreal Quebec

H2Y OA4

The Montreal requires the DS-160, NOT the DS-157. I will find the link that states this in a moment.

Althugh the DS-160 is done online I strongly recommend you print out an extra copy of it for your records.

Edit: http://montreal.usconsulate.gov/content/content.asp?section=visas&document=immigrant_visa Scroll down to "processing of approved fiance petitions." It does not ask for DS-157, but it does ask for the DS-160. It lists everything that's required. Note that it does not ask for you to attach birth certificates, evidence, etc., just the forms. I did not submit the 157 and was approved.

Be wary of anyone giving advice who isn't K-1 at this point as the required documents are slightly different for spousal visas.

Actually, this link has the same information but is easier to read: http://montreal.usconsulate.gov/content/content.asp?section=visas&document=visa_pkt3 I should also not that in my Pkt3 I included 2 photos and a photocopy of the biographic information page of my passport, but others have omitted them and had their Pkt3's approved, so I am unsure of that. I figured it wasn't a big deal to obtain those things as well so I included them just to be safe. Perhaps someone else can shed some light on that.

When you click on this website in part it says:

For fiancé(e) visa applicants only, please complete additional documents as follows:

DS-156 – 2 copies https://evisaforms.state.gov/ds156.asp

DS-156K – 1 copy http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/82063.pdf

Form DS-160 – one copy, available online at https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/

So I think DS-156 is required. We went by what the website says and did DS-156 as well!

Your first post stated 157, which is why I was confused. :) I thought perhaps there was another form called 157 that was used for another visa. The checklist I posted lists the 156.

I faxed in the checklist and DS 230 to Vancouver and it was accepted just fine, that's all it said on the checklist was to fax it in along with the DS 230. I emailed them right after I faxed it off and asked for packet 4 to be emailed to me and by the end of the day I had packet 4 in my inbox.

I'm sure every embassy is different.
