Hi there,

I am applying for IR1 visa. My husband's income does not meet the requirement so we need a joint sponsor. My husband's sister can be our joint sponsor but she need to know if it will affect on her tax return refund.

Anyone can advise? thanks

No it won't affect her tax return- the immigrant is not a dependant in that sense. She will need to have filed taxes for at least the last three years though.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

And meet all the income and/or asset thresholds--there are no shortcuts here--either she meets the requirements or she doesn't
