Hey everyone! My man just had his K1 visa interview today and everything went well :) I was just wanting to make sure I knew of everything he is going to need at his port of entry (detroit) I know he obviously will need the visa and sealed medical envelope and he'll be bringing his huge binder of 'our relationship/all forms from the past'. What else will he need?

ps. do you guys think it will be easy enough to do the AOS without a lawyer? My lawyer just tagged on an additional $700 bogus fee that came out of no where. I've already spent well over $3000 and its getting/has already gotten ridiculous.

Thanks, ahead of time~!

Congrats! I think the only things he need is the Visa and the sealed envelope. If Detroit is just a stop and not his final destination, he will need a considerable gap of time in between flights... Best wishes to you both.

Here are some Detroit reviews as POE http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/poereviews.php?poe=Detroit&dfilter=0

I think if you read the AOS guides, just as you did with the k-1 you won't need a lawyer http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos

Best wishes, again!!

If he was approved for the visa and has the visa, I don't think you need to bring anything but that.. your passport with the visa..

You only need your medical envelope and binder of your relationship/forms to the interview and you're stating he already went to the interview..

This is wrong. A K1 visa holder is given a sealed envelope from the consulate that contains pretty much their entire file. They must have this envelope, and it must be presented at the port of entry unopened, or they will not be processed and admitted to the United States. If they show up with nothing but the visa in their passport then they'll be denied entry.

Good to know! I'm sure they'd tell me that when I go for my interview.. have not been yet.

I wouldn't count on it. My wife wasn't told anything about the POE, just not to open the envelope.

Congrats on the approval.

As for the $700 fee, is your attorney here in the US? I would request an itemized accounting. They can't just tack on fees because they want to, well they can, but it isn't right and they will have to show that it was for something specific if it is above and beyond what your original agreed upon amount. You can always contest the fee if it is bogus and report them to the BAR in your state.

Beside the passport and K1 Visa, take a copy of your complete submitted packet, don't open the envelope and smile. If something is left out by he Embassy you will have documentation. it took my wife 4 hours to clear on her K1 at LAX

In Arizona its hot hot hot.
