To fulfill the "you must carry your green card w/ you at all times" requirement, does that mean the NOA1 should be carried at all times?

Why ? You are removing conditions yes? GC you need to carry all the time. NOA1 for ROC do you mean? I would say not why would you

I guess technically, yes. I think the requirement is for you to carry proof of your legal presence all the time.

However...how many of us actually do that? ;) If I'm driving I have to have my licence and stuff with me, but otherwise I HATE carrying ANYTHING with me. Even my front door key is an annoyance LOL.

I remember the border guard told me I HAD to have my card with me all the time. Well, I've had my purse stolen, so heck no! If I ever got stopped by immigration, I'd gladly welcome them to my home for a nice cup of coffee and a viewing of my green card. :thumbs:

This seems to be an ongoing discussion.... Carrying green card... and you will find opinions on both sides.

I keep a colour photocopy in my wallet when I am out and about in NJ and keep the original card in a fire safe at home unless I am travelling out of the country.

Yes, if you have applied to remove conditions then you need to carry a copy of the NOA1 extending the validity of the green card since the green card itself is expired. The two work together as proof of legal status in the US.

Hubby always carried the extension with him until his 10 yr greencard came in. AND he always carries his greencard. Do we have a copy of it scanned? YES...as I have of everything important, things are easier to replace that way. Will it be a pain in the butt to replace if he loses his wallet? Yes, but so will his drivers license, bank cards and everything else...but he's a grownup and I'm sure he can handle it.:star:

compared to replacing a lost/stolen gc, those are a cake to replace. don't even mention the cost of a new gc...

Yeah I understand that. I guess hubby figures he doesn't want one of the first things he does in the US to be breaking a rule that is quite clearly stated on the letter he got with his greencard.
