hello everyone,I had my interview yesterday for adjustment of status and was told that I was approved.I was given a letter stating that I was granted conditional residence , but my passport wasn't stamped and the officer took my E.A.D.Has anyone had this happen to them? I'm only concerned b/c now i can't get my driver's license or show proof that I'm eligible to work. What should I do?

Thanks, I guess I was soo nervous that I didn't think to request that he stamp my passport, now I have to go back to get it stamped or just hope I get mY GC in the mail ASAP..

Why would they stamp your passport? We that don;t have an interview don't have a stamp in passport. You will get your GC in a few weeks.

Divorced !st November 2012.

If you're approved at the interview you can get an I-551 stamp in your passport that serves as a temporary passport. Some people like to get it, one of the benefits of an interview BUT even those approved without interview can take their letter to an INFOPASS and ask for a stamp which they MIGHT or might NOT give you. They seem to be giving them out less and less. Some people like getting the stamp because they want to start getting work, or a drivers licence and what not and want to get started ASAP

you get a stamp as proof of approval and in my case if i want to get a license i need proof of my status.the guy at the dmv refused to take my letter saying that it was not sufficient.

Do you think I can just show up with my letter and infopass weeks before my appointment and get my passport stamped seeing as how it'll only take a few seconds? Or will they turn me away ?

They will turn you away. You are not a greencard (GC) holder so you're not eligible for a GC stamp.

Yeah, but those without interviews never have their EADs taken away so always have something until the actual GC arrives. If they didn't file for/receive the EAD yet, they aren't losing anything waiting for the GC to arrive.

Well I got my green card in the mail today!! YAY!!! 1 week after my AOS interview.:-)

Congrats!good.gif
