pushbrk please know that I mean this with all due respect. Is this a fact? You say it with such authority that I assume you have first hand knowlege that this is consular procedure. I come back to this site because veterans like yourself seem to give very helpful advice. To help me process what I get from this site can you tell me if this is your experienced opinion or is it fact.

I'm restating what a Consular Officer posted years ago in a thread in the GUZ Speaks forum on candleforlove.com However, it matters only as it relates to the direction your reaction to the circumstance takes. You can track all the packages in a date range and see clearly that some are delivered to the Consulate within a couple days of arriving in Guangzhou and others wait weeks. Then, check out the day of week the delayed packages are delivered.

Chris,

I called a second time this morning and was on hold for 5 minutes. I wanted to make sure I got a different visa specialist to give me a second confirmation :D I didn't trust the first specialist whom I feel is new at her job :D

I called DOS at 202-663-1225, press '1', waited 1 or 2 seconds, then press '0' and waited for someone to answer the phone. It kept ringing while I waited until a specialist answered.

Hope to hear good news from you!! :)

Bobby,

I called and was told that it shipped on 07 June now. Just goes to show that you can call twice and get two different answers. The letter dated 20 May said it would be forwarded "within a week" so apparently a week equals 12 business days.

One thing I know for sure is I don't know much of anything.

Guys I'm sorry if my frustration is showing in my posts I really do appreciate everyone's input and advice.

I asked this very question of DHL and they said that the difference in clearance and delivery times is a function of weight of the package. I don't doubt that the consulate regulates their intake of petitions.

It's probably best for me to stop trying to predict when things will happen and just continue to be patient.

No need to apologize. We all know what you are going through.

I expected to have our file sit in Chines customs for 3 months. Somehow I was lucky and my file went solely via SAFEFILE.

Vent any time you need to. That's one of the things we're here for.

Chris,

You're doing fine :)

I'm glad you called and found out a little bit more. If you recall, I had a few scary moments too, and I posted here asking for clarification. I really feel that's what this forum's for. Not only does it give us a place to ask questions and share experiences, our posts will be good references for future petitioners and beneficiaries.

So please continue to share with us your experience. You've helped me in the past :) Thanks!!

Why not just do electronic??

Great question. Wish I knew where to sign up. My understanding is that it is not up to the petitioner. NVC processes a small number via safefile at their own discretion.

If it was an option I wish it was in the guides.

I saw this thread and immediately emailed my attorney. He said his cases have all been sent electronically to GUZ... not sure how that happened. Was just wondering

GUZ has received the file electronically FIRST for several years. That's not the same as "electronic processing".

When you call back, ask him/her/it to explain the distinction between:

1. SAFEFILE SOLELY and

2. DHL with SAFEFILE

for casefile movement between NVC and GUZ IV, with particular emphasis on how it effects the 'casefile opened at GUZ IV' timetick.

Then, when you get a moment, post back his response?

TIA !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Darnell, will do.

pushbrk, what do you mean difference between electronic processing? What is it that he has waiting in customs?

His paper file is waiting in customs but the Consulate already has the electronic file. Electronic files are on servers Consular officers access. They don't sit in customs.

Yes, so I was asking why not just do electronic?

It is not an option at this point, he just has to wait and wait and call DOS and wait some more.

Is it YOUR photo in the dictionary next to "Monday Morning Quarterback" or is it next to "Hindsight is 20/20"? Too late for that.
