thanks Guys! I am going to the consulate on monday. They just changed the processing time of passport renewal 6-8 weeks. They will also ask me to surrender my passport to them eventhough it's not expired yet coz they are going to send this to my country for verification. My main concern is what if by the time of my interview i dont have my new passport yet.I know they cannot expedite the time processing and I don't know when thay are going to schedule for my interview.Do you guys know the processing time of adjustment of status?I filed my I465 and I765 2nd week of november.Btw, thanks to you all.:) HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Do you have any other form of ID like driver's license or state ID if yes you don't have to renew your passport now.You can go with your expired passport Im sure it has an I-94 form the IO will need to take that.I think your situation is tricky if you don't have another form of valid Id other than the passport looking at the processing time of your renewal of the passport greencard processing takes anywhere from 3-4 months you have done your biometrics. In my own opinion I would wait for the interview and would explain that to the IO in person why I didn't renew my passport if the IO raise some concern about expired passport.I'm not sure if the passport being expired will have anything to do with the interview the passport is just used to identify the applicant and also to see if you entered legally in the USA and of course the I-94.This is just my opinion don't know what others think. All the best and happy new to everyone.

hi everybody. i am new here i also applied last yr and got approval last yr.

Goodyearr as lady G has said you do not need to renew your passport so long as you have a valid govt identification card. From what i have read from others, at the interview they need to see your old passport and i-94 just to verify that you entered the states legaly. You only need a legal passport if you dont have any other form of id.
