I went to interview myself this week. After waiting for more than an hour, I was called. The officer in charge asked for marriage license, divorce filing, order of protection, birth cert, I-94. Then the officer asked questions on 485 then form. Then comes “Yes/No” questions. In the end, the officer hand me a sheet which has the following item checked:

"Your case is being held for file review in order to prepare a decision. You will be advised by mail as to a decision on your application. No additional information is necessary from you at this time, however, if upon further review, additional information or evidence is required, you will receive a notice in mail. Please respond to any request in a timely manner. Failure to do so will result in denial of your application. Please allow 60 days from today's date before making an inquiry on your case."

The officer didn’t tell me whether I am approved/or not approved but told me that I should get correspondence in the mail in less than 60 days.

I am hoping for the best, after what I have been through. If anyone know whether this is an approval, or receive the same thing after the interview, let me know. Good luck everyone. Thanks.

Tuck,

Don't feel despair and sad...things will work out...you have come too far to be sad. I'm sorry your interview was not as easy. They did take my I-94 a few years ago when I went with my spouse. It is a must that they take it from you. Keep praying, you will get your approval letter very soon in the mail. You should have ask for a supervisor, under no circumstance should they ask you anything related to VAWA. VSC has the sole authority to adjudicate this matter. Please know your rights. It was written on the face of the file that your IO had in front of him.

Anyways, I did get my card exactly 12 days after my interview, but my love affair with Uscis is not over. I had to return the card. everthing was correct except it stated that I am a residence for many years...longer than I have been in the US. So, as you all know I have to wait for a new card...that will take some months. But God be the GLORY. I am a US Resident after all my pains.

All my friends waiting, hang in there, you too will have your day of great reward...

I did everything myself. I am just waiting anxiously. I know they have not found any reason to deny me. However, I would say the interview is very much dependent upon which local office or officer. But no matter what we should stay strong and cheerful... Nothing to hide

To those who had an I-485 interview, can u share experience? I just went over everything with my lawyer, she made it seem very difficult, plz share

Hi Stillhere.I had my interview 10/12 and all went well, didnt have a lawyer i didnt everything myself including vawa petition. The IO was very nice an older man in his 60s.He didnt ask me any question regard vawa/marriage on top of my file I had seen a yellow paper saying warning in big letters that IO wasnt supposed to ask anything about abuse. He only asked me and my kids the questions on i-485.Took our i-94 and my work permit, asked for i-693 as I didnt submit it whilest appying for i-485,asked for my birth certificate and my son's.He didnt ask for any documents other than what I have mentioned though I had taken all the documents on the interview notice except of course the i-864 as I was a self petitioner.Like Tuckhoe8 wrote every IO is different and handles interviews differently I would go with all the documents if I were you just in case IO ask for them.I will approved at the spot and was given the welcome letter and 7 days letter received my GC.He also gave me back all the photos that I had sent to vermont with my vawa petition.Wishing you all the best at your interview.
