I have a question. My attorney told me that I can apply for citizenship in 2 years and 9 months instead of 5 years. Do I need to be still married to my ex to apply in 2 years and 9 months ? or If I divorce him , would I have to wait for 5 years? I really don't understand this part. My ex does not want to give me the divorce and I shopped around for some attorneyS and they all want $7000.00 US dollars to defend a contested divorced!! I don't have this kind of money.

Please any advised from some of you who are already divorce or divorcing. By the way, my attorney has yet to call me. All my application were sent with a waiver fee and all were approved. Could they take a long time to give me an appointment because I did not pay the fees?

Your lawyer is right. You can be divorced meaning you don't have be still married to your spouse and still apply for Citizenship. When I was filing for divorce I looked for a lawyer and they charged about the same price. So i went ahead and file on my own and it all went well.

Hey guys I have a question,

When I filled my i360, EAD and i485, I did not include a medical which i later realised that is necessary so I went ahead and got a medical done about 3months ago but USCIS adviced me not to send it in because i could simply get lost in the mailroom so that I should wait for them to send an RFE or something for the medical. When I talked to another officer, she said that I can just take the medical with me to the interview/ they will ask me to bring it to the interview so that it will not delay the proccess of scheduling an interview.

Who is right? because and just scared that processing my i485 might take forever like my VAWA did :crying:

Hi Adele ,same thing happend to me didnt know had to enclose the form i 693 for medicals ,but when I received my interview letter it was the first thing on the list of things they want from me .So I am having my medicals done this saturday. But dont send them to uscis as at the moment you havent received your interview letter and dont know if your i 485 is being transferred from NBC to your local office .Wait for your interview letter and go with it at your interview appointment.Wishing all the best and everyone waiting on their vawa approval.
