Seatle with all respect what are you thinking? You asked vital to send to Ucsis copy of her birth certificate? .and asked another place to send to Uscis copy of your police certificate? Man it's damn wrong. YOU must send the documents to Uscis or your lawyer and nobody else.

We need to tell our legislators to do their job. We need you to act in these last few days.

For nearly two months, since the passage of a Senate version of VAWA and a House version of VAWA, Congress has done NOTHING to finish the job and get VAWA to the President to be signed. NOTHING.

We need you to do just two things in the following weeks: call your legislators and write letters to the editor, especially if you are in California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, New Hampshire, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington, or Wisconsin. We know we’ve asked you before, and we know you’re tired – but we have precious few legislative days left.

We need to let Congress know that everyone loses if VAWA isn’t finished—that all victims need the many improvements in this version of VAWA.

ACTION: CALL YOUR LEGISLATORS AND TELL THEM:

“We need you to do your job and pass VAWA. If you don’t, ALL victims of violence will lose critical protections, including:

protections for victims of dating and sexual violence at colleges and universities, who often lack access to the justice system simply because these crimes occur on campus.

housing protections for victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking.

helpful expansions from both the Senate and the House bills that would provide crucial new protections for victims of sexual violence.

valuable new prevention programs that can reduce the likelihood of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking from occurring in the future.

Many victims, including Native women, immigrants, LGBT people and communities of color, would go without life-saving protection from violence.

This is unacceptable. You must pass VAWA before the recess.”

ACTION: WRITE A LETTER TO THE EDITOR – OR GET YOUR LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT, COMMUNITY LEADERS AND SURVIVORS IN YOUR COMMUNITIES TO DO SO

Sample letter to the editor:

To the Editor:

Congress is failing victims of violence. They have done nothing to pass the Violence Against Women Act in the past two months. Without this critical law, victims of violence will lose life-saving protections, including services for dating and sexual violence victims on college campuses, housing protections, protections for victims of sexual violence and prevention programs. We cannot stand for a Congress that refuses to protect victims of violence. It’s simply unacceptable. Congress must act now and pass a law that protects all victims of violence.

We all know that passing a VAWA that includes ALL victims is the right thing to do – spend these last few days telling your Congress Member to get VAWA done before they go on vacation.

Thank you!

Hi sandranj, thanks for your help, wow, you have already helped 6000 vawa cases, very impressive! I have already mailed my reply letter to VSC by express mail the same day I received it.

About my wife's US birth certificate, I asked vitalcheck company resend another one to VSC by UPS, also I copied my email to NBC supervisor who received my wife's US birth certificate on May 2011.

I paid $700 to Seattle threapy for my psychology test before I left Seattle last January, together with my sounder mental health doctor's prescription drug letter, Seattle therapy said I have depression long time before my marriage, Sounder mental health doctor said I need go to mental hospital immediately, at the beginning I reserved my psychologist test, but my removing letter said I have to leave Seattle in one month time, so I left Seattle before I go to see Psychologist. anyway, today I will email my Seattle therapy and sounder mental health doctors to let them know my situation.

About my non-criminal record from my home country, I already mailed my notary document to VSC, since I am not in Seattle, I write my letter to Olymia to ask them send my non-criminal record to VSC, but I donot know the fee, I just put my letter in one envelope together with my other evidence documents to VSC.

I do send VSC me and my wife's joint tax return for two years, joint bill, lease, bank account, joint land property, together with our email exchanges, she said she love me always, also she asked my wells fargo bank account ATM password.

I also give my 6 US citizen friends' name to VSC, together with their contact address and phone number, since i am not in Seattle, if VSC want to contact them, they will find them by phone or mail.

Anyway, leave it to the God, i will get my results two weeks later from now on! I mailed VSC all the evidences I have right now, since I cannot fake the evidence I donot have, so that is it! if I failed for my VAWA case, which means I have to help my wife immigrate to my country, at least keep her still alive!

hey young Seattle!!!

Smh!!!you gotta be kidding me right!!?? you are messing with us right!!??!!!..

VAWA is a assessment(law)demonstration, arguments, evidence not a vague statement, I dont want to say it but so far your case has a lot of mistakes.

everything Im reading so far Its kind of... come on now!!! you got to be smart more then what you wrote smh!!!, VSC asked for RFE and you did send that in the same day without done your homeworks... buddy!! you are playing and you are not focused...

Youngseatle you gave to USCIS your friend's names and phone number but let me tell you DO NOT expect USCIS will call them. USCIS is very clear you should submit affidavits from family and friends (notarized). If Immigration is not convinced they MAY call who gave the affidavits, but to expect they will call some of your friends to corroborate your story just because you gave them their phone numbers? no way, no how.

Some people are filling form I-360 without a lawyer then here are some tips: Do not let mistakes ruin your case. Do not send to USCIS documents little by little.Prepare your case VERY WELL and send to USCIS. If USCIS sent you an RFE usually they will give you 30,60 or 87 days to answer them, then YOU or YOUR LAWYER must send copy of the RFE along with the documents they asked you. DO NOT KEEP SENDING DOCUMENTS AFTER YOU ANSWERED THE RFE. It's not right. Make sure you are sending along with form I-360 copy of your police certificates from your home Country and USA, copy of US Citizen passport or copy of US Citizen birth certificate or copy of certificate of naturalization. If you are filling form I-360 based in mental abuse include your psychological evaluation as well. Copy of documents showing commingling finances some utilities bills, joint tax return etc... Send NOTARIZED affidavits from friends and family stating a genuine marriage and/or that you were battered or suffered extreme cruelty. If you call the police then submit copy of the police report as well, pictures of the injuries, hospital report, shelter documents etc.

I've been new to this forum, and I'm not sure If I'm doing the right thing just by posting about my case..I'm married to a USC and lived only for 10months, I have an approved I-130 but I never filed adjustment of status. I have removal proceedings, and my first master calendar hearing would be next year. I'm planning to file a VAWA petition for me, though I have removal proceedings, I just wanna know If I can also file I-485,I-765 concurrently, and do I have to pay fees for these applications. Based on my understanding I can only apply for waiver for fees once the I-360 has been approve. Thanks!

fajrakatana your case is different from most of the girls here since USCIS started with your removal proceedings. YOU MUST find a lawyer to handle your case now. You are be eligible to apply with the IMMIGRATION COURT for " VAWA CANCELLATION OF REMOVAL" , it's a relief from removal. You must show that you were continuously present in the US for a period of three years prior to your application in case of vawa cancellation of removal. You have the option to file form I-360 with USCIS along with I-485 and I-765, ask to waive the USCIS fees, but your lawyer should identify and pursue the best approach to your case. Find a pro bono lawyer in your city.

Hi sandranj: thanks for the infos.

I already talked to two lawyers and each of them gave a different opinions with regards to my case. The first lawyer told me that USCIS would not permit me to apply for VAWA because I have removal proceedings already, I will be 3 years here next January, so the lawyer said that I can apply for VAWA COR. I don't wanna wait that long because I have 2 kids with me and I really want to work. The 2nd lawyer told me that I can apply now for VAWA at USCIS, I don't have to wait for my hearing, she also said that I'm also qualified for VAWA COR once I met the 3 year residency requirement. She is not just sure if I can file concurrently the I-485,and I-765. I wanna hire this law firm but they are asking 8k dollars retainers fee. They are asking for big amount of money because I have removal proceedings, and they would charge me hourly. I live in WA state, near seattle area, if you could give me some good attorneys here. Thanks!
