VAWA Update

You may have heard that there was action today on VAWA in the House. Because VAWA has expired, some House Members tried to use a special procedure to offer VAWA as an amendment to the House budget bill that was being debated on the floor. The amendment attempt was voted down, but that has no effect on the regular introduction process of a stand-alone VAWA bill in the House. The National Task Force to End Sexual and Domestic Violence Against Women continues to work with House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith (R-TX) and Ranking Member John Conyers (D-MI) on a bipartisan VAWA bill in the House.

I'll keep you updated. After VAWA reauthorization cases will be resolved faster. (That is what I heard from my senator).

VAWA Gets 60th Co-sponsor

If they have 60 co-sponsors,why can't they just pass the bill?This is the worst congress ever, just always playing games with peoples life.Since elecetion,2010,they have not done anything other than to fight & blame each other.From what i hear, they say if Harry Reid can get it done on or b/4mid april, they will have to set the bill aside till after election is over in Nov.

CONGRATS love me...@ least that hard part of the process is over.Once you terminate ur removal proceedings,it will be a smooth ride from there.I'm almost tempted to call the VAWA Hotline but they respond faster to attorneys & individuals who don't have attorneys on file.So, i spoke with my attorney today to call them & request a decision on my case b/c its past processing time & i'm really tired of waiting.I also requested an extension of my prima facie which will expire mid april.She has said she will call & do as i have requested.I'll continue to call her & make sure they get their work done b/4 i lose my mind.

Yup. This is the same thing my attorney said. VAWA unit currently only has enough money to last till Sept. After that USCIS will still keep pending cases alive but at an even slower pace.let's push to get this reauthorized faster.

To those with pending I485 its taking 4 to 6 months for VAWA cases to get interview post approvals.

Actually the senate is already began the process to place it to a vote. But even after its approved it must go to the house of representatives (which is even harder cause its republican controled). Then goes to a bipartisan committee to join both bill then goes to the president to sign/or veto.

To everyone who wants to apply for VAWA push your congressmen so you have the same opportunity to be helped.

To those with pending cases push your congressmen to finally get closure.

To those with approved VAWA push your congresmen tell them VAWA works and give someone else that same opportunity.

Today congresswoman Gwen Moore spoke out talking about get experience with abuse email her, call her office sms THANK HER!

Send out emails to friends family coligues and religous partners to support this bill passing.

I'm still waiting to hear more on my EAD renewal and my I-485 interview date....lets see.....will keep everyone posted.

Just got a note from USCIS. My EAD is renewed and they will mail me the card soon!

On March 27, 2012, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I360 PETITION FOR AMERASIAN, WIDOWER, OR SPECIAL IMMIGRANT. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations.

WELL MY LETTER IS ON ITS WAY ... I STILL HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO THOUGH ... I HAVE NOT FILED i485 OR EAD YET BUT FIRST I CAN NOW CANCEL MY REMOVAL PROCEEDINGS OHHH YEEEESSSSSS GOD IS GOOD !!!!... Now they sent a letter that they are working on my case for the final decision ... it's been more than a year ...please help

Don't bother them too much. You don't wanna piss them off. By the way if is taking that long they may approve tour case. Because if they wan to denied it they would do it by now.

If they say they're working on it you will get an APPROVAL soon. its coming just keep holding on.
