you can do that, i had similar situation and i did a complain to the bar...that's bad for them...even that , they cannot keep your notice, because is fraud, it is your name on the letter....just forget now for the bills, try to get from them the notice, go at interview, this is the most important thing now...and after that you will have time to deal with them for the bills....i will pray for u

august 2010 - filed I-360, I-485, I-765

september 2010 - received prima facie

september 2010 -received work authorization without fingerprints

june 2011 - renewal prima facie

june 2011 - got RFE in the mail

july 2011 - applied for renewal I-765

august 2011 - sent respond to RFE

september 2011 - I765 approval never got it, uscis sent 2 times on wrong address

october 2011 - applied again for replacement work authorization

october 2011 - fingerprints done

november 2011- called uscis for renewal prima facie

november 2011 - got a letter I-765 moved to another office

december 2011 - called uscis regarding my prima facie, sent it to wrong address

december 23rd 2011 - got first transfer notice I-485 to NBC

january 11th 2012 - rceived the approval I-360...soo happy

january 17th 2012 - got second transfer notice email I-485 to local office

february 21th 2012 -i called uscis regarding my pending I 765, i did also service request

february 27th 2012 - got an email that they ask me for RFE in my case for I-765...omg

MARCH 1TH - gor the RFE about my I765, they ask me for 2 photos even i did my AOS 2 months ago

march 29 2012 - i got my inerview notice for april 11 and biometrics on april 6 ...soo happy

APRIL 11 2012 --- I485 APPROVED....YEEEEEEEE

I have my receipts they gave me one for 2000 and one for 5020 which was for AOS fir me and ny son

i guess that you have a contract with them, if in the contract doesnt say that you will be charge twice for that, is their problem, they should told you for the begining, contact is contract....you dont have to pay more them you sign for, my opinion is try to get the notice that is the most important thing, told them that you will pay for it, but dont sign anything, after interview you will see...

august 2010 - filed I-360, I-485, I-765

september 2010 - received prima facie

8500???? Are u crazy??? My lawyer charged 1500... Sued them...

nov 04 Went to interview by myself, told officer will aplly for vawa

11/04 I485 touched (still on initial review)

11/21 officer called lawyer about the I485 (btw: really nice IO)

12/10 apply for VAWA, without background check

12/11 lawyer drop off a copy of I360 for the IO

12/15 Prima faice received

12/18 sent background check, also sent a letter to IO asking to expedite the I485 to vermont to be linked with I360

12/31 I360 touched

08/04 Apply for EAD renew

08/18 receive NOA

08/26 new card ordered

08/31 new card ordered (again??)

09/01 notice of approval of I765... (where is my VAWA approval??? God help me...)

09/03 EAD arrived in the mail!! ufa!

10/03 Sent letter to renew prima facie and inquire about vawa status.

10/05 I360 touched- changed to "Request for evidence review" (WTH????)

11/27 Recieved prima facie extension

11/30 VAWA APPROVED!!!! yupiiiiiiiiiiiiii12/04 I360 Touched

12/22 Interview noticed for 01/23/12

12/26 Interview canceled by USCIS

12/31 New interview notice for 01/30/12

That sound like the norm.The lawyer I had asked before I filed myself wanted to charge me $1500 as well ,but my petition included my 2 kids that I cam ewith to the USA.So she wanted $4500 for the 3 of us ,plus the money for i-485 which is $1070 by 3 ,the total was going to be almost $8000 thats why I decided to do it myself to cut of the $4500,I agree with you $8500 isnt right plus wanting another $4000 thats taking advantage of someone.

Feb 18th 2011 - filed I360, I485 and I765

Feb 21st - receipt notice received

Feb 27th - prima facie received

March 18th - letter for biometrics appointment for April 15th

April 15th - biometrics appointment done

May 15th - EAD approved

May 20th - received EAD card

Sept 23rd - RFE received

Dec 14th - RFE response send

Feb 17th 2012 - filed for EAD renewal

Feb 23rd - received an email from USCIS: I360 APPROVED!!!

Feb 23rd - transferred my case to NBC

Feb 24th - receipt notice for EAD renewal

March 7th - RFE issued for EAD

March 13th - RFE response send

March 29th - EAD renewal approved

April 10th - received EAD card

I haven't been on here for a while. Congratulations to all who had their petitions approved, and those you have interview dates.

I applied in August of 2010,

RFE in June or July of 2011,

Responded to RFE on September 6th 2011,

...and I am still waiting and praying for an approval, I have not heard back from them since September of 2011. I am getting very worried. But I know God is still in control.

Good luck to everyone who is still waiting. I pray this week, we get the approval we've been waiting for.

Wow , it's way past the 60 days .. i hope you hear from them soon. I'm waiting just like you after sending my RFE in early Dec.

my son is 11 years old and the instruction says if the child is under 14 and filing with a parent there fee is $635.

My case is similar. I applied on 04/25/11. Got RFE in May. Responded on 09/06/2011 and got Prima Facie on 09/12/2011. Since then I didn't heard from them!

you are right i ended up paying that for each child as there 2 of them and $1070 for myself.
